"Aiya, it's not a big deal. We've done this before, so it wouldn't matter if we did it again this time."
Seeing how shocked Jiang Feng was, Ling shrugged her shoulders as she focused back on eating.
Feeling speechless by how she was talking about doing dangerous stuff like it was nothing, Jiang Feng decided to just ignore it until he couldn't.
"On the same note, I should also find you somewhere else to stay temporarily." Jiang Feng muttered.
"Huh? Why? Can't I just stay here with you?" Ling asked with a nervous look on her face.
"Well, Aunt Lee will find out about you soon if I continue to hide you here. Don't worry, I'll handle the cost and stuff so you don't need to pay."
"That's not what I'm worrying about. We've just reunited, and even though you don't remember, it's been a long time ago since I last saw you."
Shifting his eyes away from the phone, Jiang Feng exchanged glances with Ling whose face was filled with unwillingness. Seeing how she was desperately rejecting the idea, Jiang Feng's brain started spinning again.
"Well, there is one way…"
"Really? What is it?" Ling's eyes lit up as she heard Jiang Feng's words.
"I could introduce you to my parents as my girlfriend."
While saying that with hesitation apparent in his voice, Jiang Feng tried to avoid eye contact with Ling so she wouldn't see him blushing.
However, Ling seemed to not notice as she became exhilarated.
"That's better! Come on, we'll head down right now." Ling said as she pulled Jiang Feng's hand and proceeded towards the door.
"H-hold on a second, we have to take things slow." Jiang Feng stopped her.
Finding herself stopped, Ling turned around as she faced Jiang Feng. Her eyes now resembling those of a puppy trembled with tears on its edges, giving Jiang Feng a fright as he started panicking inwardly.
"You don't want to be my partner?" Ling asked as her voice revealed a tinge of breakdown.
Staring at her face as she made a pout, Ling's adorableness flicked something inside Jiang Feng as he gulped. In the end, he patted her head with an awkward smile on his face.
"I don't mind you being my lover, but we need to start off slow first. Else, my parents will start doubting everything about you since your appearance is something out of blue for them."
"Give me a month of time, I'm sure afterwards I can introduce you to the family and they'll accept you with welcoming arms."
"Mhmm." Ling replied with a nod.
Seeing how she was still feeling down, Jiang Feng proposed to head out to buy her clothes. Ling agreed to it as Jiang Feng sneaked her out of the house while looking out for any possible witnesses.
Once they were out, Jiang Feng pulled a cab as the two sat on it to the nearest mall.
"I'll grab a few dresses for you to try out. Let me know if you spot any you like." Jiang Feng spoke as they entered the clothing store.
Spending two hours or so, Ling repeatedly came out from the changing room as Jiang Feng and a store staff that randomly appeared to assist them shoved more dresses for her to try.
Despite the style of each dress being vastly different, when it was worn on Ling, they fitted her figure and charisma perfectly, as if she was born to be a model. Heck, some models would dim out when compared to her!
Because of this, the surrounding passersby were caught by her adorable appearance as all gathered outside of the store, taking pictures of her with their phones.
"Could you stop these strangers from taking pictures of her, I'll buy all these dresses if you would." Jiang Feng whispered to the staff.
Feeling as if she had struck gold for getting such a big commission to her work, the staff nodded her head like a chicken and began contacting the store's security.
Being forced to disperse, all of the passersby let out a sigh as they left the place. Some old men, however, refused to let go of such a chance as they stood not faraway and continued to admire from a distance.
Seeing this, the staff ordered the guards to pull on the curtains, turning the whole store to a fitting room just for Ling to use.
"Hmm? What happened to the place?"
Staring at how the windows were blocked by the curtains, Ling tilted her head as she looked at Jiang Feng for answers.
"Nothing much." Jiang Feng replied with a smile on his face.
Turning to the staff next to him who was grinning from ear to ear, Jiang Feng took out a card as he said.
"These dresses should be enough, how much will the total be?"
"It's original would be 65000 yuan, however, since sir bought so much in a single receipt, the store will be giving a 30% discount. Would you like to pay in installments?"
"No need. Also, does your store provide delivery services?"
"We do, sir. You can fill in this form here and we'll sent it to your address whenever you want."
After getting the store's number, Jiang Feng and Ling left the store as they proceeded to get a phone for Ling. Since she didn't know anything about technology, Jiang Feng decided any phone would work and paid it in a single time just like how he did earlier.
Teaching Ling the basic to use the phone she held her in hand, the two left the mall and arrived at a hotel not faraway from Jiang Feng's home.
"Hmm? What are we doing here?" Ling inquired.
"You'll be staying here before I introduce you to the family. Don't worry, I'll make sure to visit you every day."
Saying that, Jiang Feng approached the counter.
Since Ling's presence was unknown to the government, Jiang Feng could only open a room under his name with Ling as his guest. The staff only looked at the two with a teasing smile as she gave him the key, silently wishing the two a good time.
Opening the door, a room with warming lights was readied before them.
There were two bedrooms and a single living room, as requested by Jiang Feng earlier. The living room didn't have much but a TV and a couch for Ling to get entertainment from, as well as a small kitchen and a table for dining.
Opening the door to the master bedroom, Ling jumped onto the bed and started wrapping herself with the cold blankets, despite already changing to a full-white dress that suited her.
"Does it feel comfortable?" Jiang Feng asked with a smile.
"I've never slept on such a comforting bed before. What kind of materials did you guys use to make such a thing?" Ling asked as she sat up, still wrapped like a bug.
"I'm not sure, but just know that although we don't have cultivation, technology was able to make our lives much better than a few hundred years ago."
"Technology, huh…" Ling murmured as she stared at the modern world outside the window, deep in her own thoughts.
