Two days passed in a blink, and nothing drastic had happened.
Sienna was as cautious as ever and didn't trust anyone except Frank. She didn't leave the estate even once, making it difficult for the perpetrators to attack her.
However, she couldn't stay home forever. There were a lot of unresolved matters at the company, and she had a meeting scheduled with Director Cowell, the man who had previously owned the Production House.
After negotiating for a day, the man had agreed to sell his production house to her company, and it was time they finalized the deed.
Sienna was prepared. It was the first time she was going to the office since her family's demise.
Although she wasn't in the pink of health, she could manage.
"Miss, please think again." Frank attempted to convince her again, hoping she would rest for a day or two more.
"Frank, I can't rest anymore. Issues are cropping up at work, and people are using this precarious time to harm me and the company.
Frank wasn't oblivious to what was happening in the company. Many shareholders were creating a ruckus, not bothering to hide their ugly faces from the world anymore. Thinking Sienna to be a pushover, they were demanding her, more like pressurizing her to hand over the company responsbilities to someone else.
But was Sienna a pushover? No. She never was and never would be.
Even though Sienna wasn't related to the Lawerence family by blood, she still was a Lawerence. Her mannerisms, her daring and no-nonsense attitude, her unruffled yet stern actions reminded Frank of Warren, Sienna's father. He had been exactly like her, only that he was more daunting.
Frank didn't argue with her and sighed softly.
"I'll accompany you, Miss."
Sienna was just about to agree when her phone chimed. Kyrell was calling her.
Frowning in wonder, she answered the call.
"Miss Lawrence, this is Kyrell."
"Yeah, I know. What's up, Mr. Winchester?" Sienna asked, keeping her tone composed.
"I heard that you're going to work today."
Sienna's brows shot up instantly. Now, she was surprised.
"How..." She stopped short when she recalled that she had spoken to Officer Jenkins early in the morning and had informed him about her schedule for the day.
"I see that you have received the news. Is something the matter?"
Sienna still didn't trust the man. So what if her brother had approached him to protect her? Given her predicament, everyone felt like a predator.
"Yes. May I put forth a bold request, if you don't mind?"
"Will you not put forth the request if I mind?" Sienna teased, not realizing that her tone had turned lighter.
"You'll have to find the answer yourself, Miss Lawrence," Kyrell replied.
Sienna was amused. She looked at the phone for a moment before she said, "Please tell me, Mr. Winchester. What is your request?"
"I know that your brother and I didn't sign the contract. But I'd like to accompany you to work today."
"Why? May I ask?" Sienna was curious. Why was the man so interested in her life?
"It's just that I feel something unfortunate will happen if I'm not by your side."
Sienna's heart skipped a beat, and she went silent instantly. Although she didn't trust him, his words had strung her heart, the vulnerable part of her feeling touched.
But it was all momentary. Sienna snapped out of her reverie when she heard Kyrell clear his throat.
"Miss Lawrence, hello? Are you there?"
"Mr. Winchester, will you answer a question of mine honestly?" Sienna asked seriously.
"Please."
"Why are you so interested in my life?"
Now, it was Kyrell's turn to go silent.
Sienna didn't force him. She waited for the man to gather his thoughts and speak himself.
"Miss Lawrence, will you believe me if I told you I have a selfish motive in wishing to protect you?"
"And what might that be?"
"If you want to find out, you'll have to sign the contract with me, Miss Lawrence."
Even though Sienna couldn't see him, she had an inkling that the man was smiling on the other side. She envisioned a smug smile on his infuriatingly charming face and was tempted, not by him, but to learn his motive.
"I'll be leaving for the company in ten minutes. If you can make it to the Lawrence Estate by then, we can discuss the contract terms later. Otherwise, forget about it."
"Miss..." Frank, who had been listening to her one-sided conversation, interrupted her immediately. He was frightened by her shocking words.
Sienna raised her hand, forcing the man to hold back his objections.
"Done, Miss Lawrence. I'll see you in ten minutes."
Kyrell ended the call merrily, and Sienna's curiosity peaked. Something about him made her want to trust him, but not at the same time.
"Miss, do you want to hire Mr. Winchester as your private security?" Frank was skeptical.
"I want to find out what he is up to, to be precise," Sienna replied, spinning her phone with her fingers.
"But Miss..."
"Frank, if Kyrell is a friend, it's good to have him close by. But if he isn't, then it's all the more necessary to keep him close."
"But Miss, what if he is a threat to your life?"
"If he is, then I'll send him to hell myself. Send a message to the guards to allow Mr. Winchester in if he arrives in ten minutes. You don't have to accompany me today."
"Miss..."
"I want you to run a few errands." Sienna looked at him mysteriously, and Frank gave up persuading her when he saw her obstinate look.
"Okay, Miss Lawerence. Please take care."
Sienna nodded and walked out of the estate. Her feet paused, and her brows shot up when she saw Kyrell leaning against her car.
Dressed in a pristine black suit, the man looked dashing and sauve. His sunglasses added a level of charm to his already attractive face, and Sienna was impressed. The man had the looks and body to kill.
"How did you get here this quickly?" Sienna dropped the formalities and questioned him, approaching him slowly.
"I was already here before I called you, Miss Lawrence," Kyrell said honestly.
"Were you that confident I would agree to your request?" Sienna folded her hands and quirked a brow.
"I have confidence in myself."
"Cocky much."
"Didn't you agree, Miss Lawrence?"
Sienna observed him for a moment, and Kyrell waited for her to finish assessing him.
"I'm trusting you, Mr. Winchester. If you break my trust, I'll make your life hell."
Kyrell stood to his height and approached her, eradicating the distance between them. He removed his sunglasses and looked at her, his eyes filled with genuineness and honesty.
"Miss Lawrence, I'm honored that you decided to trust me. If I ever betray your trust." He retrieved a gun from his holster and pulled her hand gently before placing the it in her palm. "You may kill me anytime."
Sienna was astonished. His frankness and sincerity caused ripples to erupt in her heart. The feeling was strange, and she couldn't quite grasp it.
"You said it, Mr. Winchester. Don't blame me in the future."
Kyrell smiled, a genuine smile filled with a promise. "I won't, Miss Lawrence. You have my word."
