As I told Ulric, he demanded that we proceed to India as quickly as possible, so we spent the next day rushing through Kazakhstan.
The whole time, we were well aware of the timer counting down before us.
[Next round of inheritance will take place in 7h, 30m, 42s]
Every time inheritance took place, we'd get stronger, but so would all our enemies. That included our final target - Buddha.
We kept going, never stopping. Thanks to the God's influence, we had plenty of stamina.
Near the south of the country, the timer ran out and the next wave of inheritance took place. Naturally, I had to check my skills.
[Skills (5)]
[Judge of the dead Lv 4]
[Can select the fate of those you kill]
[Hellfire Lv 3]
[Can summon and control hellfire]
[Freeze Lv 2]
[Can stop time within 5 meters for 40 seconds, with a 5 minute cooldown]
[Hell's subpoena Lv 1]
[Can see any in formation on those you judge]
[Sleep inducement Lv 1]
[Can put a target into a light sleep]
Freeze, hellfire and judge of the dead all levelled up, which was nice, but, what was even nicer, was sleep inducement. Even if it was only a light sleep, that could still be deadly in a fight.
Meanwhile, Ulric's body out of body, golden fiery eyes and summersault cloud all levelled up, and he even obtained a new skill.
[Fire protection Lv 1]
[User takes reduced damage from fire]
Cain's skills also levelled up. Spirit physique now lasted 2 minutes, weapon proficiency reached level 3 and he gained a new Pyrokinesis skill.
Vladimir didn't gain any skills, but instead had all four of his skills level up.
After that short burst of excitement, we kept going.
As we crossed the border, a chill went down my spine. We had been trying to avoid the most populated areas, but were about to walk into one of the most densely populated countries in the world.
Surprisingly enough, it was quiet. Incredibly quiet.
The streets were still very crowded, but not by people - but by corpses.
We considered it could've been the work of the crime boss, but India was full of incredibly powerful mythological creatures who could've easily caused it. Besides, if he was a proper crime boss, he would've tried to recruit some of these people rather than just killing them all.
Of course, our journey couldn't ever be as easy as walking through empty streets, looking at dead bodies.
From between the bodies, a young boy - about twelve - crawled out. His supporter, the rather recognizable Ganesha, encouraging him to fight us.
A large rat came out with him, which the child rode towards us. There was no way either me or Cain could kill him, and even Ulric didn't want to.
Luckily, Vladimir, cursed not with morals or a love for children, used his Cryokinesis skill to freeze the child to death, before crushing the rat. Seeing that sight, I could finally get why Loki picked him.
We ventured on, looking for the crime boss.
Not quite sure how we thought we'd find them, I sent Sharvana and Shyama to find him. Ulric followed, sending his clones as well.
We kept looking, finding nothing. It would've been nice if I could've gotten more information from hell's subpoena.
We were looking for someone with no idea who they were, where they were, or even if they were still alive.
There was no real reason to find them anyway, Ulric had already gotten his revenge and we'd gotten all our stuff back.
As I regretted my decisions, Ulric found him.
"How can you be sure?", Cain questioned him.
"They're all those lower class criminal types, you know what I mean?", Ulric's prejudices could be funny at times, but, when it meant we had to go massacre a whole town, they were just annoying.
We followed Ulric's lead to a nearby town, full of those 'lower-class criminal types'.
Most of them had pretty weak, unimportant supporters, and probably only survived because they were part of the mob.
As we entered the town, most of the people were already badly injured. Ulric tried to ask questions, but, not speaking the language didn't help.
Eventually, we came across someone who spoke English. When asked what happened to the town, he explained, "A few minutes ago, some dude came in with a huge army, attacking us all."
"Did he get your leader?", Ulric asked, disappointed.
"Not sure. Boss is pretty strong, but we haven't heard from him for a while"
"Who's your bosses supporter?", I asked, curious.
"Vishnu", the man willingly answered.
"Cool", Ulric spoke, "He'll still be alive, so I can still kill him. Where can I find him?"
"I'm not telling you", the man declared, suddenly changing his tone.
"Fine, die then", as Ulric grabbed the man's collar and picked him up, he changed his mind.
"Over there", he whimpered, pointing at an inconspicuous house in the distance, which we then approached.
There were guards outside the house, both maimed, but still adamant they wouldn't let us in.
We overcame them easily with fire and crossed into the house. As we did, we could hear the loud rumble of combat in the rooms above.
The intruder must've been strong, to be exchanging such powerful blows with Vishnu. Ulric rushed in to join the fight but, upon reaching the door, was denied entry by some skill.
He hammered away, still unable to get in.
As he kept trying, someone approached us from behind.
This one, uninjured man appeared, giving off a bright, unbearable glow. Seeing him, Yama gasped, confirming my suspicions.
Surya, the Lokapala of the south-west, God of the rising sun.
Seeing us try to get in, he first thought we were trying to help Vishnu, then, realizing that we weren't part of the gang, decided to attack us.
His vessel was clearly part of the gang, armed with an automatic rifle.
He began attacking us with light attacks, each one hot, painful and almost impossible to dodge. Ulric took the front, looking for someone to take his anger out on.
He repeatedly used summersault cloud to dodge the attacks, before propelling himself at Surya.
In addition to the beams of light, we were showered by bullets from his gun. Had we not been using fire skills to block the shots, we would've surely been filled with holes.
Ulric leapt from side to side, confusing Surya's vessel, before ripping out some hair and summoning clones to join him.
The clones, now 50% of his strength, were overwhelming. They were now fast enough to dodge the bullets, even without using any skills.
Besides, thanks to fire protection, the clones could even survive a few hits from Surya's light.
Inevitably, Surya was defeated. He was strong, but Ulric's power was far beyond what most vessels could achieve.
Despite this, Surya was not killed, as, when Ulric was about to finish him, the door opened.
As a boy - only around eighteen - emerged from the door covered in another's blood, Surya's vessel fled. He obviously wasn't their leader.
"Are you the man who killed Vishnu?", Ulric asked him, knowing the answer.
"Yes, he is", it was not him who answered, but his supporter. The Hindu villain - Ravana.
