The Monkey King's War

Mount Wuxing, the mountains of the five elements, said to be the smallest prison on earth. But just what exactly was imprisoned in it? Buddhists would say that it was Sun Wukong, after his fight with Sakyamuni. However, the Hindus have another story, another monkey.

We would run into this other monkey after our run-in with Surya.

We'd encountered him before, outside Vishnu's hideout. As a result, he already had quite the grudge against us.

The difference this time, was that Surya's vessel was not alone. He was escorted by another man, who was supported by a rather recognizable figure.

An immensely tall and splendid monkey, with a huge tail. It was the Hindu monkey God, Hanuman.

Upon spotting him, Sun Wukong was enraged. In response, hanuman bore a similar reaction. They were both immensely powerful and prideful monkey Gods, neither of which would back down from a challenge, or even accept the other's existence.

Hence, both Ulric and Hanuman's vessel were prompted to fight.

Hanuman jumped at Ulric, full speed, forcing him do dodge with summersault cloud. His opponent then used another skill, summoning a sword to attack with.

A boon given to Hanuman by the Gods, he could summon anything he wanted, anytime. Due to the skill's level, there was obviously a restriction, being an hour long cooldown.

As the sword grazed Ulric, he plucked a hair and activated his own skill.

Reaching level 5, body out of body's description changed slightly. No longer did Ulric have to summon attack clones, he could now summon a replica of anything (still including himself) at 50% strength.

He hair in his hand grew into a staff, a staff many people would be familiar with. Sun Wukong's magical weapon of choice - the Riyu Jingu Bang.

Ulric spun the weapon rapidly, deflecting all the sword strikes and knocking Hanuman back. With a weight of 3980 kilograms, it was bound to hurt.

To respond, Hanuman's vessel launched a flurry of fire attacks that the Riyu Bang couldn't block. Luckily, thanks to his new fire protection skill, he hardly had to.

As we watched the fight, Surya began attacking us. Protecting us, came Ulric's spare clones. The same clones he'd struggled against so much before. Joining them, my dogs dealt with Surya's dog - Sarama.

I couldn't help but feel a tinge of guilt, sending the Sarameyas to attack their own mother, but it couldn't be helped.

As I returned to watching the monkey kings fight, I couldn't hope to guess which would win.

Ulric was strong, but so was Hanuman's vessel.

In a full-power fight, neither could win. The two monkeys both had layers of immortality, and would therefore be unable to kill each other, but could probably destroy everything else in the process. But, neither had inherited immortality yet, so we didn't need to worry.

As they bounded from place to place rapidly, hardly able to hit one-another, I wanted to intervene. I didn't, because Yama didn't want me to.

He'd always been rather fond of Hanuman, in fact - it was he who granted Hanuman his immortality boon.

Staying out of it, I continued to spectate, rooting for Ulric.

Wukong shouted, "Die you f*cking monkey ripoff!", as Ulric shrank the Riyu Bang and threw it. When it was about to hit, Hanuman's vessel activated another of his skills, invisible protection ring.

It deflected the staff, forcing Ulric to jump and catch it.

Ulric increased the length of the Riyu bang again, smashing it down on Hanuman, only for it to be blocked by the protective ring again .

He kept thrashing at the ring, but couldn't get past it, no matter how hard he tried. He could've waited for its duration to run out, but Ulric wanted to try another method.

As he kept deflecting attacks, he plucked another hair from his head, and transformed it in to something else.

In his hand, a replica of the universe ring formed. Even with only half its capacity, he thought it could still bypass the invisible protection ring.

He jabbed the Riyu Bang through it, hitting Hanuman in the back, pushing him straight into Ulric's foot.

Hanuman steadied himself, and activated another skill that made him invisible.

Normally, with Hanuman's strength and skills, invisibility would make him completely unbeatable; however, thanks to Ulric's golden fiery eyes, he could manage, even if it made things a little bit more inconvenient.

Ulric shot punches, kicks and strikes in Hanuman's direction, while using summersault cloud to dodge counters. Thanks to Ulric's martial prowess, he could keep up, despite his inferior skills.

Just as Ulric thought he'd gotten the upper hand, Hanuman's vessel called upon yet another skill. One of the first powers Hanuman learnt, after being taught it by Surya - the ability to change his own weight.

As Ulric knocked the vessel back, he increased his own weight, also increasing the recoil faced, so much so that the Riyu bang replica began to crack and bend.

That was not be expected, with it only being 50% power and all.

Realizing he needed something to tip the balance in his favor, Ulric pulled out more of his hair, summoning a new batch of clones.

The clones rapidly danced through the air, using summersault cloud to push themselves into powerful punches and kicks. Level 2 summersault cloud allowed them to jump up to 50m, which was more than enough to hit Hanuman.

Still, as they got close, the clones seemed to slow down. That was the other boon Yama had offered Hanuman - the ability to slow and speed up time.

Even with his broken blade, the opponent easily cut down the clones around him, before launching himself at Ulric.

Even when slowed by the skill, Ulric still moved faster than the eye could track.

He moved what was left of the Riyu bang fluidly, sweeping it through the air, too fast for Hanuman to dodge.

I looked over to see Surya's corpse, torn to shreds on the ground below, while Sarama had submit and fled.

Hanuman crashed into the ground, leaving a large crater. He stood back up, wounded, but not seriously injured.

Looking at Ulric, he was in a similar condition. Hanuman howled and Wukong growled as their vessels clashed again. I couldn't help but think that, if he struggled here, he'd do a lot worse against Buddha.

Clash after clash, Hanuman's sword now had no blade and the Riyu Bang now looked more like nunchucks. The two men were incredibly tired, but showed no sign of slowing down.

Several bouts later, and Hanuman's vessel had lost anything that resembled teeth and Ulric even seemed to have a broken leg, but that wouldn't stop either of them.

They kept going, the Riyu bang split into three, Hanuman lost an arm and Ulric managed to lose a few fingers.

Exhausted, they both landed and Yama finally gave me permission to intervene. I launched waves of hellfire at Hanuman's vessel, while Vladimir and Cain contributed with Pyrokinesis.

Even with his ability to control fire, in his current state, he was in no position to deflect anything.

Ulric limped over, still faster than most Olympic sprinters, plucking another hair and forming a new Riyu Bang, before dealing the finishing blow.

In the end, the great sage ruled superior.

Even then, Ulric was in a terrible state and in desperate need of some god-level healing. Even with his natural recovery speed, it would've been days before he could recover on his own. Days that we didn't have.

So, off we went, looking for a healer.
