Fate Is Sealed

"I'll keep going," she said softly. "I don't know what's ahead, or what's being kept from me, but I'll trust you. I'll trust that you're doing what you think is best."

The Goddess's sobs quieted, replaced by a deep, trembling breath. "Thank you," she said, her voice filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Adeline. You don't know how much that means to me."

Adeline smiled faintly, exhaustion tugging at her again. "We'll figure it out," she murmured, her voice growing quieter. "Together."

After this, Adeline seemed more relieved, she was able to fall asleep very quickly.

The infirmary was cloaked in silence, the faint light of the moon streaming through the window and casting soft shadows across the room.

Adeline lay in the bed, her breathing slow and steady as she slept, her face pale but peaceful. Cassian stood by the door, his hands clenched at his sides, his heart heavy with guilt.
