"Are you done running, Lucas?" Cassian's voice was calm, but the rage beneath it was unmistakable. He stepped forward, the frost spreading beneath his feet with every step. "I told you—no one who harms her gets to walk away."

Lucas scoffed, though his heart was pounding in his chest. "You're losing your edge, Your Highness," he taunted, his voice steady despite the fear coursing through him. "Risking everything for a girl? How noble of you."

Cassian's eyes narrowed, and the temperature dropped even further. Lucas shivered as frost began to creep up the trees around them, encasing their trunks in shimmering ice. The air felt heavy, the cold seeping into his bones.

"You seem to have a death wish. What a waste of two lifetimes." Cassian's words stung. Lucas felt uncontainable anger. He was going to kill Cassian at all costs, even if he dies trying he will not die until Cassian becomes crippled.
