Chapter 118: Finally Free

After a short rest, Xia Yu said to Yan Shining, who was driving, "Brother Yan, I asked Master Li, and it turns out that Yan Hong's illness will require a long time to treat. However, he can still attend school without affecting his treatment. I plan to arrange for Yan Hong to attend the same school as my younger siblings."

"Thank you, Boss. I'll follow your arrangements!" Yan Shining replied with gratitude, turning his head to show his appreciation.

Having lost his parents early and with his wife's unexpected death, his son Yan Hong had become the most important person to him. Education for his son was a major life event, and with his limited ability to provide a good education, he felt relieved knowing the boss himself was taking responsibility and that the school would be the same one his boss's siblings attended. It was clear that it would be a good school, so he could finally rest easy.

He silently vowed to himself to protect the boss and help him in the future!

Back home, after dinner, Xia Yu stopped his younger siblings, who were about to watch TV. Seeing that Xia Yu seemed to have something to say, Xia Father and Xia Mother also sat down, waiting for Xia Yu's thoughts.

"Mom, Dad, with school starting in five days, I plan to transfer A-Ming and Xiao Mei. The previous school they attended had poor teaching quality. A-Ming and Xiao Mei are so smart; we don't want them to be held back," Xia Yu said slowly, glancing at his family.

Xia Da Hai nodded in agreement and said, "Yes, now that we have the means, we should definitely send A-Ming and Xiao Mei to a better school."

Mother Chen Mei also nodded in deep agreement.

Parents always want to give their children the best, and while they couldn't provide high-level education themselves, they hoped their children could receive the best education.

Now that Xia Yu was making money, the Xia family no longer lacked funds for education. They could afford to choose better schools, allowing Xia Ming and Xiao Mei to receive a better education.

Seeing their brother and parents talking about the new school, Xia Ming and Xiao Mei were eager but dared not voice any opinions, only looking forward to the new school.

The previous school they attended had poor facilities, with students mostly coming from poor families and a bad school environment.

Although it would be hard to see their previous friends after transferring, they understood that they had no say in the matter and could only follow their parents' and brother's arrangements.

"So, Xia Yu, where do you plan to send A-Ming and Xiao Mei to school?" Xia Da Hai asked with concern.

Xia Yu smiled and replied, "I've already looked into it. The Beacon Hill School has a good reputation and high teaching standards. I'll have A-Ming attend Beacon Hill Boys' School, and Xiao Mei will go to Beacon Hill Girls' School, which are very close to each other."

Beacon Hill Boys' School, established in 1869 by the Hong Kong Anglican Diocese of East Kowloon, has both secondary and primary divisions and is one of 22 subsidized schools in Hong Kong. Located in Kowloon's Ho Man Tin, it is an all-boys school known for its excellent performance in public exams, sports, academics, and music. It is a prestigious traditional school.

This private school will be a great advantage for Xia Ming in terms of future connections.

Beacon Hill Girls' School, founded in 1860 and also established by the Hong Kong Anglican Diocese, is a girls' grammar school with an international perspective.

Both schools are highly ranked in Hong Kong and particularly in Kowloon, making them ideal for Xia Ming and Xiao Mei.

Although transferring Xia Ming and Xiao Mei will involve some procedures, with Xia Yu's influence, it is feasible. Even if it requires spending money, it can be done.

"That's good. I've heard that these two schools are prestigious. A-Ming and Xiao Mei will certainly benefit from them!" Chen Mei said with satisfaction. She had also heard of these schools and knew they had excellent reputations.

"Brother Yan, for Yan Hong, I'm also planning to send him to Beacon Hill Boys' School, to the primary division, as both the middle and primary schools are in the same location."

Xia Yu then looked at Yan Shining, asking him.

"Thank you, Boss!" Yan Shining quickly agreed.

"Xia Yu, what about you?" After a moment of hesitation, Xia Da Hai finally asked. Seeing her husband's question, Chen Mei also looked anxiously at their eldest son.

They no longer felt they could make decisions for Xia Yu. They knew their son was very capable and had his own plans. Everything had to depend on Xia Yu's wishes.

With their limited education, they hoped Xia Yu would continue his studies. However, their son was already outstanding and had a successful career. They were conflicted, wanting Xia Yu to keep studying but also fearing that his studies might disrupt his business and return their family to a lower standard of living.

With the new school year approaching, their anxious feelings grew, affecting their sleep.

Xia Yu put away his smile and sighed lightly. This day had finally arrived.

"Dad, Mom, I won't be going back to school. I've learned what I needed to. Continuing my education no longer holds much significance for me. I need to focus on my career now, and I don't have the time!" Xia Yu said seriously, looking at his parents.

After speaking, Xia Yu felt a sense of relief, as if the last layer of restraint had completely disappeared.

Hearing Xia Yu's words, despite being mentally prepared, Xia Da Hai and Chen Mei were still disappointed. Chen Mei wanted to speak but was stopped by Xia Da Hai.

"Xia Yu, your mother and I have no education and don't understand much. Since you've decided, we support you. Our family has lived a life of fishing for generations, and changing our family's fate depends on you. Work hard, and ensure that future generations can enjoy a good life." Xia Da Hai said with a simple smile, his eyes filled with anticipation as if envisioning the Xia family rising to prominence.

"A-Ming, Xiao Mei, your brother is exceptionally talented and knows a lot. It's okay if he doesn't go to school, but you don't have his intelligence. You must study hard and help your brother in the future, understand?" Xia Da Hai emphasized to Xia Ming and Xiao Mei, worried they might follow Xia Yu's example.

"Okay!"

"Don't worry, brother! I'll study hard and help you when I grow up!" Xia Ming and Xiao Mei nodded earnestly, their faces full of determination.

Seeing the sincere expressions on Xia Ming and Xiao Mei's faces, Xia Yu smiled, patted Xia Ming on the shoulder, and ruffled Xiao Mei's hair, encouraging them, "You must work hard. If you don't study well, and Mom and Dad don't discipline you, I will, you know?"

"Don't worry, brother!"

"Alright, go take a bath and rest early!" Xia Yu told his younger siblings, then stood up.

"Mom, Dad, I'm heading to my room now."

With that, Xia Yu headed towards the stairs.
