Alarys Military Academy was nothing more than a slaughterhouse and Gwen was one of the many sacrificial goats who were forcefully shoved into the entry trials this year. 

To live, she must survive. To live, she must bond with one of the fire-breathers.
 
But even if she did survive the trials, she had to survive the military academy filled with the offspring of the generals who destroyed the lives of everyone in their Kingdom. However, later she figured out that she had more life-threatening problems in hand.

In the Academy, a different sort of mystery awaited her and she couldn't help but think that there was something more sinister about the Military Academy than what met the eye.

Bound with her enemy and the Governor General's handsomely infuriating son, Damian Thorndyke, she had to figure out the links between the magic of the lands and the sinister incidents that happened in the Academy every year.

All her life, Gwen was considered an outcast for not having a magical moon stone just like every human on the lands. But now that she had the magic she yearned for, why did it seem like the magic in their lands was more of a curse than a blessing?

Serpent of Silver Flames

"Uh..." Gwen repeated, feeling the pressure of the librarian's gaze.

The woman folded her arms, her eyes narrowing as she studied Gwen's facial expression.

"You look rather lost," Endra commented,

"Are you sure you know what you're looking for?"

Gwen cursed internally. This was not going as planned. She should have come up with a title earlier. Now she was standing there like an idiot, unable to think of a plausible book.

"Found it!" Rose's voice chimed in, making Gwen turn around to glance at her. The redhead was waving an old book at them, her lips curled up in a huge grin. "Fables of the Air. It's been such a long while since I've read this!"

Gwen tried to hold her laugh as the female professor raised an eyebrow at Rose. Out of all the books in the library, this girl had to choose a children's book full of fantasy tales in their defence.
