CHAPTER 42: DIARY ENTRIES 2

The diary narrated the time when Selena gave birth and how happy Logan was. She called him a fool. He couldn't help but let out an empty laugh, his eyes reddening at being fooled for so long.

The diary entry finally reached the crucial point. It was around the time when Selena was in the hospital.

[I just received the message that I don't have much time to live. My ovaries are in bad shape. Damn, I regret fooling with that bastard before I was well. But who made him so irresistible?]

Bang!

Logan slammed the desk upon hearing that. To think that this nameless scumbag even dared fool around with Selena when she was supposed to be recuperating and he was the cause of such a disease in the first place, Logan wanted to go and dig her grave and ask her why. Unfortunately, the dead were gone and couldn't be brought back.

[I can't believe that idiot wrote about her crush in a diary. Doesn't she think that this could be used as a weapon?]

[Alice, that brain-dead girl will be visiting me tomorrow. Let her see a drama. I can't let Briar have a win over me once I am gone. I might as well create obstacles for her now.]

Reading up to this point, Logan had an inkling that this was the part where Alice would come in and witness the argument. Was all that arranged by Selena?

Just how much hatred did she have for Briar to set an innocent person like that?

It wasn't like Briar made any moves. She didn't even do something like that. If it wasn't for him pushing the contract to her and her needing money, he doubted if he would ever know about her feelings.

He remembered how, before she attempted suicide; she told Alice that she was planning to retire once Lyra was of age.

To think that Selena would dig a pit for someone who only had love for the family like that. His heart ached so much.

[Hahaha, this is fun. I can still vividly remember how ashen Alice was when she saw us arguing. That fool. She only saw what I needed her to see. Thankfully, she didn't overhear the whole conversation otherwise all the hard work would be for naught.]

[Seriously, how did she find out about my affair? To think that she had been keeping it a secret all these years. What should I do with her? If I provoke her, she might tell Logan about the affair and Tiana. What if she gets angry and exposes the truth of ten years ago? What should I do?]

Reading this entry, his hands were shaking with anger. He had been lied to, for years. Briar knew about the affair, knew about the child and yet didn't say a single word. How dare these two women play him for a fool like that?

How could Briar do that to him?

Just why?

Unfortunately, his anger couldn't be vented on someone, as what he read next made his heart chill.

In a fit of anger, he tore off the page hastily and lit it on fire. No one should ever see that log. It was better to let it be gone like that.

That was the last entry of the diary, however there seemed to be another diary at the bottom.

Thump-thump-thump.

Still in shock about what he read last, Logan didn't know if reading this diary would be good or would just send him in shock. Nonetheless, he still picked it up and opened it.

'The handwriting has changed!' that was the first thing he saw upon opening the diary.

And when he started reading the entries, a smile involuntarily hung on his lips.

How could she be so cute?

Logan's gloominess started disappearing the more he read the last diary.

[Isn't he handsome? I am falling deeper and deeper for him.]

[I don't deserve him. I will be fine just looking at him from a distance.]

[He is a good husband and father. I envy him a lot. If only he spent time with the kids. They miss him. Let's not even talk about the wife. I get a headache just thinking about it.]

[I can't believe that she is still seeing that man. I thought that she would repent and just focus on her marriage, but alas; she continued.]

[It's a pity that Tiana has such a mother. I will shower her with all the love. No one knows when the truth will come out. It's not her fault. I blame the Master as well. If only he paid attention to his family and not the company, maybe this wouldn't have happened.]

[Maybe staying like this and watching from a distance, just being a nanny will be good for me. I will just love everyone the same way.]

[I think that she knows. She just called me over. Could it be that she wants to report me to the master? If she does, I will report her as well. Let's see who has more to suffer!]

[I love him, but will he ever know?]

And that was the last entry of the diary.

Many pages were remaining that could have been filled, but there weren't.

Looking at the date coincided with the time when Selena confronted Briar at the hospital. Which meant that someone stole Briar's diary and brought it to Selena. Selena then used the diary as the focus of creating chaos between Briar and Alice.

It also makes sense how the diary ended up in Alice's belongings. But if Selena knew that she was going to die, why did she foolishly put the diaries together like that?

If it were him, he would have burnt the whole thing to a crisp and made sure that they would never be known.

Unfortunately, this woman with a small brain, probably from being at home too much, didn't even think of this and foolishly had the diaries stored in the house only to be found now.

Maybe her plan was foolproof. If he never thought of searching through the place, then maybe he wouldn't have found the diaries.

Could it be that Briar knew of their existence?

If that was the case, she should have dealt with them a long time ago, especially her diary. With how lowkey she had been all these years and did her best to make sure that she wouldn't get caught, she would be a fool to keep such a hot item lying in place so that it wouldn't be found.

No way that would happen.

In other words, it should be Selena who hid the diaries or one of her goons, though he still wasn't sure why they would do that.

As for Briar's dedication to cleaning the place and not allowing anyone to touch it. After seeing the kids' books over the years, how could he not understand?

She just wanted to preserve everything, unknowingly she safeguarded a box full of ammunition. A box that would have caused his empire to crumble down if fallen into the wrong hands.

A box which also gave him answers. Answers that if anyone had given him, he would have hated that person thinking that Selena was being framed.

Thinking about how adamant Briar was when she was accused of killing Selena, he was overwhelmed with guilt and shame.

The secrets that she safeguarded all these years for his family's sake. He didn't know how he could ever repay her for that.

He had wronged her so much that he felt so ashamed.

If he wanted to make things right for her, he would start by meeting with his family.

There was that banquet to attend, after all.

He was going to stand by her side even during these trying times.

For her sake, he was going to hold the stronghold.

But first thing first, he had someone he needed to call; Alice.

Wasn't it high time for the other to learn what truly happened in that year?

Even if he was ashamed of what Selena had written, to right the wrongs and bias against Briar, he could only do this.

That way, when she wakes up, she would open her eyes to a brand-new world.
