CHAPTER 44: UNGRATEFUL WENCH!

Watching the back of her son leaving, Madam Meyer raised her hands to massage her aching temples.

Never in a million years did she think of seeing something so stimulating.

Thinking about the shocking contents she read in those diaries, her eyes flashed with a murderous glint as she thought of how bold Selena was.

To think that she ...

Before she could finish with her thoughts, Alice, who had been crying her out a moment ago, suddenly said something, though her voice sounded shaky.

"Mother, this ….. did sister-in-law really write that? How could she ….. how could she do something like that to brother, to us, to me and the kids? How could she be so heartless?" Alice's eyes were burning red as her fists were clenched.

She was feeling betrayed and like a fool. The feeling wasn't something that could be washed away easily like that.

Madam Meyer exhaled a deep breath, her demeanor not concealing how disappointed she was with the whole thing herself.

"I want to ask her that as well!" Madam Meyer could only say, suppressing her anger, the eagerness to do something right there.

How did they raise such an ungrateful wrench?

Sarah who had been listening with a cold gaze a while ago sighed as she relaxed on her sofa before opening her mother, saying, "That handwriting belongs to Selena. I was friends with Selena for years and we studied in the same class. In fact, I remember her writing in diaries like that before. However, since they are private, I never bothered with them. Who would have known that she was so bold to write brazenly something like that without fear of the consequences?" her tone getting chilly with every statement she uttered.

She was a lawyer who had dealt with all kinds of cases, but seeing someone so daring to write her confessions like that, Selena's eyes turned cold.

To think that there would be a day that they would get fooled by someone, Sarah didn't feel good at all.

She felt as if she had been stepped on, and that wasn't something that she liked at all.

It was too bad that the person in question was dead and gone.

Otherwise ...

When Madam Meyer heard her daughter's deduction, she snarled as hatred filled her eyes.

"To think that we ….. hahaha. If it wasn't for this matter, we wouldn't have known about Selena's true colors. Even in her death, she still wanted to cause trouble. She didn't even repent and yet left trouble. Who does she think she is?" when she thought of the green hat her son had to wear all these years because of Selena, who was too good at masking herself, fury rose in her.

Alice gritted her teeth angrily as she thought of Selena, and then she couldn't help but think about Anna. If Selena was like that, then what about Anna?

Anna was very close to Selena. There was no way that she couldn't know about her sister's antics, right?

At the thought of being used by those sisters, her gaze turned cold as her mind drafted an avenger's plan.

No matter what, she wasn't someone who could be fooled twice and just let things go like that.

She had lost too much face and suffered big time this time. Where would she vent that anger?

Sarah, however, wasn't done as she looked at Alice and said to her, "I understand that you were triggered by Selena's words back then, but if your mind had truly worked, you should have reported the matter to an adult. Even if you couldn't tell Logan, what about me or mom?

After Selena's death, if you thought that Briar contributed to Selena's death, which doesn't make sense at all, you should have still expressed your doubts. However, you spent over six years harboring that truth and watched as the so-called murderer raised the kids and remained by our side for years.

Tell me, Alice, is your brain functioning pretty well? If it wasn't for this ….. maybe Selena wouldn't have picked you as a pawn. You let your hate for Briar consume you and did many foolish things. Now see where this had led us."

Being berated like that by her sister, Alice could only hang her head low.

Sarah's words were similar to that of Briar. Indeed, she was a fool. Only when getting pointed out by others did she see what was wrong.

Her brain was truly lacking, otherwise, this couldn't have happened.

It wasn't like she was a teenager when Selena died. She was around twenty-two years old and an adult and yet ....

She deserved to be berated.

Madam Meyer, seeing her eldest daughter getting angry, knew that the other's temper was rising again. Although Sarah's words were correct, it wasn't like Alice didn't regret what she did, so she opened her mouth to intervene.

"Sarah, Alice knows what she did wrong. For now, we need to find a way to deal with this matter. Your brother will be dealing with the paternity of the kids. We need to see if there is a way to make sure that when Briar wakes up, this won't backfire on us!"

When Alice heard that, her eyes nearly popped open. Indeed, she was the person who forced Briar to hit herself. If Briar were to take the matter far, then wouldn't she be doomed and the family?

The thought of the consequences, in a legal sense, made her shudder. She guiltily looked at her sister, who was the person in charge of dealing with such a mess.

No wonder why the other was angry. She finally realized why Sarah was fuming like that.

Sarah's brows scrunched as she thought of the matter for a while.

After deliberating for a while, she took a deep breath and looked at her mother, answering, "From what I have seen, Briar's love for her brother and this family is not a joke. If she didn't love us, she would have exposed this scandal. Since we all know that she knew this, but never exposed it for the sake of the family.

Using her love for the family, we should compensate her in ways that would make her feel like part of us. Rather than looking at her as the nanny, let's treat her wholeheartedly as the daughter-in-law. She might lack in terms of education and the expectations of our family's daughter-in-law but we need to take into consideration that if she is gone, who else would take care of her brother and the kids like they are her own?"

The two hearing that unconsciously nodded, agreeing to what Sarah was saying.

The reason why Alice wanted to make Anna her second sister-in-law was because of her relationship with the kids. Since she was their little aunt, then she would definitely treat the kids better than the other women out there.

When it comes to families like theirs, these women would pretend to love the kids in the early days, but once they had their own kids, it would be history.

They would start showing their true colors. That's why they weren't suited for Logan at all.

However, Briar was different.

And they all knew how she was different.
