CHAPTER 45: MAKING IT UP TO HER!

"I agree with you on that, Sarah. I guess we need to show her by actions. But do you think that she will think that we are acting?" Madam Meyer was very worried about that. She couldn't help but ask, her gaze fixated on Sarah.

Sarah chuckled as a calculating glint flashed through her eyes and said, "As long as we don't expose that, we read the diaries. How would she know that we are treating her well because of the diaries?" spreading her hands and continued, "besides, who said that we are acting? I personally don't dislike Briar." Except her cowardliness, which always gets on her nerves. She didn't dislike anything at all.

When Alice heard that, her face flushed with embarrassment. She was the only biased one in the family, so if she acted nicely suddenly to Briar, she would be the suspicious one.

But could she be blamed?

However, she still needed to change for the better. She was the one in the wrong and she must apologize when she gets a chance.

So, she voluntarily raised her hand and stammered as she said, "I …. I will apologize sincerely to her when she wakes up. She shouldn't hold grudges, right?" her tone uncertain at the end, especially when she thought of how ruthless and calculative Briar was.

If only these people knew what a white lotus, Briar was, they wouldn't look at her as a bad person. They were both on the same level or probably Briar surpassed her. Unfortunately, she was the only one who got caught. So, this blame, she could only carry.

When Sarah heard that, she nodded her head in agreement.

"Um. You better do that and show your sincerity. Before we know the deep secret that Selena never wrote in that diary that Briar knows, you aren't allowed to provoke her in any manner!" Sarah said, her tone full of warning as she glared at Alice.

No one knows what Selena was hiding and the reason why she ended up in Briar's place in the first place. Only Briar held the answers to that.

If they play too much, they might end up triggering Briar and the consequences would become dire.

It was good that Briar's love hadn't reached the obsessive state right now. Otherwise, who knows the kind of dread things she would commit when upset or couldn't get what she wanted?

Alice nodded her head like a chicken pecking on rice. What else could she say except agree?

Besides, she was also curious about the secrets. She wanted to know everything about the woman who made a fool out of her. When comparing Briar who was calculative and Selena who she supported even in death but used her, she would rather support Briar.

At least Briar knew her boundaries and never overstepped. On top of that, her love for Logan and the family was genuine, unlike Selena.

Thinking of Selena's family, her eyes once again turned cold and found herself saying, "I know how to make it up for her. Didn't Anna want to become my sister-in-law? Tch, I don't believe that calculative bitch doesn't know what her sister was doing all these years!" and her words startling the two women in the room.

Seeing the shock of her mother and sister, her lips curled upward into a smirk and started exposing Anna's deeds all these years especially how she was so good at fanning the flames and encouraged her many times to make things difficult for Briar.

When Madam Meyer and Sarah heard that, they were dumbfounded. Although they had guessed that Anna had thoughts about Logan, they never knew that her heart was this toxic. After all, she had reined herself all these years and knew how to act without offending them.

To think that she was another driving force. Their eyes narrowed as they put her on the blacklist.

However, when they heard about Alice's idea, their eyes shone as sly smiles blossomed on their faces.

As long as they could make the people who wronged them suffer, who cares about the means taken?

 ***

Meanwhile, on Logan's side, after leaving the mansion he went to the hospital where the kids were keeping watch on the sleeping Briar.

It was the first time that they had seen her sleeping for a long time.

In fact, it was the first time that Briar had fallen sick.

In the ten years they had been with her, except for the examinations taken yearly, she had never been admitted or taken any medication.

Because of that, they had forgotten that she was human and could be hurt as well.

Seeing her on that bed, with drips connected to her, Logan's heart ached for the young woman.

What wrong had she done?

He couldn't help but wonder as he brushed the hair away from her forehead.

This kind of love. Did he even deserve it?

He couldn't help but wonder as he thought of how much the other loved him.

For his family's sake, she had done so much.

He shouldn't let her down.

But first things first, he needed to deal with a serious issue.

Looking at the kids sleeping soundly, Logan's eyes flashed with a glint of sadness as he recalled the diary entries.

Nonetheless, he steeled his heart as he smoothly plucked some hair from all three children.

He needed to know the answers. Were the kids his, or she was just bluffing and writing nonsense in the diaries?

Whatever the answers would be, the kids he raised would remain his. After all, didn't she write that the guy he was cheating with died?

If he doesn't mention that the children aren't his, then they would be his to the grave.

After collecting the DNA samples, Logan left the ward without causing too much noise. He didn't want to wake up the kids and startle them.

However, what he didn't know was that as soon as he closed the door, two pairs of eyes opened and looked at each other before closing as if they had never opened in the first place.

Logan, unaware of what transpired after leaving the ward, brought the samples to the lab where his best friend of his was, Wellington Anders. A talented surgeon and a part-time lab enthusiast, someone he trusted the most in his circle.

When Wellington received the samples, he looked at Logan, a serious expression on his face, fully understanding how serious the matter was and asked, "Are you sure that you want to do this? Once you do this, there will be no reverse!" hoping that his friend would think twice despite knowing that once Logan chose something, he would never leave the matter halfway.

While massaging his temples, knowing fully the consequences of his actions, Logan answered, "Go ahead and do it. And make sure that it won't leak!" his tone was very serious as he said so.

Wellington wasn't a simpleton. He understood that perfectly as well.

Seeing him adamant, he could only nod and say, "Fine. Don't worry. I will run the tests. I will have the answers in a short while. Once I am done, I will erase everything. No one would know about this," his tone very assuring.

Upon hearing that, Logan nodded appreciatively at Wellington, grateful for his help.

With the DNA issue getting sorted out by Wellington, Logan left the other to what he knew the best while he returned to the ward to check on the kids.

Once the results were out, he would take them back to the mansion. There was a banquet to attend tomorrow, after all.
