CHAPTER 46: DNA RESULTS

Two hours later, Lyra, Cade and Tiana were taking the stairs inside the mansion.

"When are we going to see the second mother again? She must be lonely!"

And on the way, Tiana's voice, laced with worry, could be heard.

On the other hand, the oldest two were silent, both of them lost in their thoughts.

While the kids were making their way to their rooms, Logan was heading towards his father's study.

On the way, he met with Alice who looked much better compared to the time that he left home.

"Welcome back, brother! Is Briar faring well?" she asked worriedly, her tone laced with concern.

Although she wanted to go and see Briar personally, she didn't dare go there again. She was afraid of upsetting the other with her presence. Above all, she was afraid of getting framed. Who knows what Briar might do when they were just two?

Logan didn't sense anything apart from worry in her tone, so he truthfully responded to her. After all, he could sense that Alice didn't seem to have such malice towards Briar as before.

Since she knew how to repent and change, then getting a second chance wouldn't be a problem.

When Alice heard about Briar's condition, her expression sunk, a sense of guilt rising in her once again.

Logan, seeing that, furrowed his brows, wondering when the girl would stop thinking like that. It wasn't like anyone would have expected that Briar would choose such a deadly method to exonerate herself from the accusation.

Recalling what Briar liked to do when coaxing the kids, he awkwardly stretched his hand towards Alice and the other flinched back, her body reflectively doing so, in fear of being beaten.

Logan saw that and his lips twitched, feeling awkward for being misunderstood. Nevertheless, he didn't retract his hand but shamelessly continued with what he wanted to do.

Alice for a second seeing her brother not stopping, closed her eyes in defeat. She was going to accept this beating; it seems. She felt very indignant but what could she do?

Unfortunately, she was proved to be wrong, as Logan didn't beat her of any sort but patted her head as his cold voice said, "Stop beating yourself over the matter. She won't blame you. You will see that side of her once she is awake!" his tone trying to reassure her or coax her.

Before she could understand what he was trying to do, Logan's hand was nowhere to be found and the other's strides had gotten longer, leaving Alice speechless and standing in one place.

What just happened?

Did her brother just use the trick used on kids to comfort her?

Was this person her brother?

Her brother who had never coaxed his siblings and would always give them a cold glare, scaring them into pieces? What got into him to do that?

Was it …..?

Her eyes suddenly flashed with a mysterious glint as she clenched her fists. Her thoughts were unknown.

 ***

Meanwhile, Logan bashed himself after making that silly move. He felt awkward. Fortunately, no one saw him, otherwise he would have lost his face.

With the file in hand, he rushed to the study. As for Alice, it would be better if he didn't see the girl for more minutes.

He had goosebumps all over his body just thinking about earlier.

Thankfully, it wasn't long before he arrived at the study.

When he arrived, his parents and Sarah were waiting for him. He had called in advance that he had taken the tests, so everyone was waiting for him.

They were all anxious.

As soon as he entered the room, he looked at the man who had raised him and ruled the company with an iron fist. In fact, it was his father who made the family business bloom and become what it is today.

He was still the chairman, very strict outside, and yet very warm when he was at home. His personality was very contracting, however, as a son who failed to learn that part from his father since he spent most of the years being a cold father even at home, he couldn't help but be amazed every single time he saw his father.

"Good evening, father and mother!" he greeted the adults as he pulled the chair to sit down.

His father, Chairman Meyer, grunted in response as his gaze was on the envelope in hand, making Logan's lips twitch.

Where was the warmth he was thinking about earlier? Could it be that the results were more important than the greeting?

Anyway, his mother still greeted him warmly, dissipating the chill in his heart.

As soon as he was seated, Alice also followed and found a chair to sit on. With this, the whole family was gathered, except for the kids who didn't need to be there.

With all of them gathered like that, Madam Meyer, who had been anxious about the results for hours, looked at her son with an urgent gaze.

She wanted to know.

They all wanted to know. So why was he delaying?

Logan also wanted to see the results; however, he was scared. They all couldn't understand the turmoil in his heart right now.

What would he do if all the kids weren't his?

What would he do if Tiana wasn't his child?

How was he going to treat her?

The more he thought, the more pressured he found himself to be.

However, seeing the eager gazes on him, he could only muster his courage and tear the envelope open. No matter what, running away wouldn't change the answer in that envelope.

"What is it?" Madam Meyer anxiously asked, holding Sarah's hand tightly.

Sarah flinched, feeling the pain of being held onto so tightly, but she didn't dare complain. The pain compared to the anxiety of what might be found out in a matter of seconds wasn't anything.

Logan's brows furrowed as he pulled the first document, quickly scanning the document, and when he reached the end of the document, a smile emerged on his face.

Although they didn't see what he just read, since there was a smile, it meant that it was good news.

Logan didn't need to say what it was, but simply put the document on the desk, letting everyone take a look at it.

On the document, the part where they all rushed to was the last one.

[Probability of paternity is 99.9999%. The two parties, Lyra Meyer and Logan Meyer, are father and child.]

Seeing that, everyone in the study heaved a sigh of relief.

It would have been too shocking if Lyra wasn't Logan's daughter. It would have shaken the whole family if that happened.

The second document was revealed and Logan heaved another sigh of relief as he put the document on the desk for others to take a look at it as well.

[Probability of paternity is 99.9999%. The two parties, Cade Meyer and Logan Meyer, are father and child.]

Cade, the only son of Logan and the one who would be responsible for continuing the Meyer legacy belonged to their bloodline.

Aaron Meyer, the chairman's brows, loosened when he saw that. No one would know that this man was cold on the surface and made people fear him as if he was a grim reaper. His back was drenched in sweat as soon as the envelope was torn.

The matter of relations was a serious one. After so many years, if the truth was to come out that the grandson that was going to take over one day was a wild seed, he didn't dare imagine the consequences of such a thing happening.

Thankfully, Selena didn't toy with his blood. Maybe she didn't until the end. He couldn't help but hope.

He wasn't the only one. Everyone in the family still wanted to believe that they were mistaken. They wanted to believe that Briar had written pure nonsense out of jealousy and that perhaps it wasn't Selena who wrote that diary.

After all, it still didn't make sense to relate the Selena they imagined in the diary and the one that they knew. The two didn't seem to be the same at all.

Logan's hand shook as he pulled the last document from the envelope.

He was scared of looking at it and yet he wanted to see what it contained.

When the document was in plain view and he saw the last part, his eyes narrowed as his fists clenched into a ball, a cold aura sweeping over everyone.

With such a reaction, even if they were fools, how could they not understand what was happening?

Bang!

Without looking at the results, Chairman Meyer angrily slammed the desk, startling the others who weren't expecting such a reaction from him.

Madam Meyer felt like her soul was being sucked out of her body.

How could this be?

Alice, unwilling to believe in people's reactions, hurriedly snatched the document from her brother's hands.

When she saw the last part, [probability of paternity is 0%. the two parties, Tiana Meyer and Logan Meyer, are not father and child,] her world crumbled.

"How could this be?" she mumbled, her hands trembling, making the document fall.

Tiana wasn't her brother's child?

Wasn't this ridiculous?

Hearing her saying something like that, Sarah picked the document from the floor and when she saw the same thing, her eyes narrowed as she clenched her fists angrily fuming inside, 'Haha, to think that there is a day like this for our family. How dare she?'

One thing was for sure: in everyone's mind at this juncture, the diaries had never lied.

Selena had betrayed their family, and Briar's, whose innocence was questionable despite the evidence placed in front of the Meyer family, found herself getting all charges and suspicions dropped.

After all, what can beat such strong evidence that every influential family couldn't accept like that?

Once again, Briar bagged another win unknowingly.
