He let go of Su Mo's legs and rushed toward Yin Yin like a firecracker.
"Mom, don't go!" The little guy clung to her tightly, as if he feared she would leave for good.
"Silly Dudu, Mom promised yesterday that she would stay with you and not leave. Don't cry," Yin Yin said, setting down what she was holding. She picked up the little boy and gently wiped away his tears.
The little guy's eyes were red and he looked pitiful, hiccuping slightly from crying so much. "But Dudu, hiccup, I couldn't find you just now."
Yin Yin stroked his back and said, "Today is our Dudu's birthday. Mom ordered a special present for you, and it just arrived. I went out to get it and came back right away."
Su Yuanjin blinked, processing her words.
"Mom, did you know it's Dudu's birthday today?"
"Of course, you're my baby son, born from my belly. How could I forget?"
Su Yuanjin's butterfly-like eyelashes fluttered as he looked at her with wide, dazed eyes. "Did Mom get a gift for Dudu?"
"Yes." Yin Yin held up a beautifully wrapped small box and shook it in front of him.
The box was rectangular, about the size of an adult's palm.
Su Yuanjin's eyes lit up as he reached for it, but Yin Yin pulled it back and said, "I'll give it to you after we eat the birthday cake tonight. You can't open it now."
Su Yuanjin pouted slightly but was thrilled that his mother had remembered his birthday and prepared a present for him.
"Okay, Dudu will wait until tonight," he said, excited about whatever gift his mother had chosen.
Su Mo breathed a sigh of relief at seeing the mother and son reunited.
Honestly, when he hadn't seen Yin Yin in the room earlier, he had briefly thought she might have left. After all, there had been instances before where people had left without a word.
Just then, Su Yuanjin's curious voice cut through: "Mom, why is your neck a little red? Did a mosquito bite you?"
Yin Yin and Su Mo both realized what he was referring to.
Yin Yin couldn't help but be amused, but she knew some things were beyond a three-year-old's understanding.
She glanced at Su Mo, whose face was now bright red with embarrassment, and said lightly, "Yes, that mosquito was very big. It bit Mom all night."
Su Yuanjin's eyes showed concern. He clenched his little fists and said angrily but in a baby voice, "Mom, where is that mosquito? Dudu will help you get it."
"Where's the mosquito? You'll have to ask your father. He knows."
Su Mo, already shy and embarrassed, met Yin Yin's teasing gaze and his cheeks reddened even further. When Su Yuanjin asked again, he could only whisper, "The mosquito has been taken care of by Dad."
Yin Yin pursed her lips, trying not to laugh.
Su Yuanjin sighed in relief. "That's good."
Su Mo thought to himself: I'm not so good. I've embarrassed myself.
Feeling like he might be drawn into more embarrassing discussions, Su Mo hurried back to the kitchen to continue preparing breakfast.
At breakfast, Su Mo was as quiet as a mouse, while Su Yuanjin was in high spirits. Though he was shy and reserved with outsiders, he chattered non-stop with Yin Yin. He even mentioned that he would apply ointment to the mosquito bites on Yin Yin after dinner.
Yin Yin couldn't help but smile at Su Mo, who looked like he wanted to find a hole to hide in.
--------
Su Mo comes from a good family. After graduating, he worked in the film industry before retiring to stay at home and care for their children. He rarely interacts with others and is kind, gentle, and seemingly without temper. However, he is very sensitive, especially around Yin Yin, and blushes easily when she teases him. Su Mo is ten years younger than Yin Yin, and she often finds younger men quite charming.
After dinner, Su Yuanjin eagerly urged Yin Yin and Su Mo to change into their outfits. Yin Yin had promised him earlier that they would go to the amusement park together.
At three years old, this was Su Yuanjin's first visit to an amusement park, and he was thrilled. Though he was precocious, like any child, he was excited about the park's attractions. Su Mo had wanted to take him before but had been met with refusal. Su Yuanjin insisted that he would only go if both his parents were with him; otherwise, he'd rather play with his building blocks at home.
Today, however, he was ecstatic about the outing with his parents, hopping around with joy.
Yin Yin watched his happiness with a tender smile, feeling a wave of emotion. This was how a child should be.
"Do you really want to go? What if someone recognizes us?" Su Mo expressed his concern.
Given Yin Yin's long-standing popularity and her massive fan base of over 150 million, recognition was likely.
"It's fine. I'll show you the magic of makeup, one of the four great sorcery arts in Asia," Yin Yin assured him with a pat on his shoulder.
She pulled out three sets of matching blue outfits from her suitcase.
Su Yuanjin's eyes widened with excitement at the sight of the parent-child outfits, and he couldn't take his eyes off them.
Su Mo was surprised too, not expecting her to have bought these. The outfits had been purchased by the original owner of this body for a modern drama where the character had a child, and they had often worn similar outfits for kindergarten events.
Yin Yin felt a pang of emotion as she realized that the original owner had cared about Su Mo and Dudu but had been too absorbed in her career to fully acknowledge it.
In her previous worlds, the mothers had always regretted their shortcomings and yearned for their children's happiness before their deaths. It seemed like Yin Yin came to this world of her own accord, but it was, in reality, a fulfillment of those mothers' wishes—to ensure a happier life for their children.
"Mom, hurry up and help me get dressed," Su Yuanjin's voice brought Yin Yin back to the moment.
"Okay." Yin Yin helped him into a blue short-sleeved shirt and shorts with a little dolphin on the chest, then added a hat.
Seeing the adorable, well-dressed child made Yin Yin's heart melt, and she kissed him on the cheek. "My son is so handsome."
Su Yuanjin's face turned red with embarrassment as he clutched the hem of her shirt.
After dressing Su Yuanjin, Yin Yin changed into her own outfit: a blue short-sleeved shirt, shorts, and white sneakers. Standing at over 1.7 meters tall with a well-proportioned figure and long, glowing legs, she radiated a different kind of beauty.
Before heading out, Yin Yin opened her makeup box.
Time for one of the four great sorcery arts to begin...
