The battlefield was a wasteland of destruction. Flames danced across the shattered ruins, fighting desperately against the consuming abyss. The air trembled with raw power, a clash of fire and darkness that reshaped the very terrain beneath them.
Duke and Franklin stood at the center of it all, their bodies engulfed in ethereal blue flames, their eyes burning with unshakable resolve. Across from them, Anissa's mother loomed, the abyss writhing around her like a living entity. Though she was wounded, her presence remained overwhelming. The shadows clung to her, whispering in an unknown language, feeding off the chaos.
Anissa's Mother:
"You should have accepted your fate."
Her voice was cold, devoid of any emotion. The abyss around her shuddered, expanding outward as if responding to her fury.
Duke clenched his fists, the flames around him roaring in defiance.
Duke:
"Our fate? We make our own fate!"
Franklin smirked, rolling his shoulders.
Franklin:
"Let's finish this, Duke."
Without hesitation, the battle resumed.
Anissa's mother vanished in an instant. One moment she was standing still, the next she was in front of Duke, her twin abyssal scythes slashing down with inhuman speed.
Duke barely had time to react. He raised his arms, reinforcing them with golden fire. The scythes clashed against his burning defense, sending a shockwave that cracked the very ground beneath them.
But Franklin was already in motion.
Franklin:
"Wildfire Typhoon!"
A vortex of flames exploded around him, spiraling outward like a violent storm. The firestorm engulfed Anissa's mother, forcing her to retreat as the abyss recoiled from the burning heat.
Anissa's Mother narrowed her eyes.
Anissa's Mother:
"The abyss is eternal. Fire will always fade."
She raised her arms, and the darkness responded.
The abyss formed a massive, writhing entity—a monstrous titan with countless arms, each one wielding a blade of pure void. Its mere presence distorted reality, the air itself warping as if struggling to exist in its presence.
Duke and Franklin wasted no time.
Duke:
"Solar Eruption!"
He punched forward, sending a devastating column of golden fire straight into the abyssal titan. The sheer force split the monster in two, but the void quickly reformed, twisting unnaturally as it lunged forward.
Franklin:
"Infernal Rampage!"
He dashed in, his fists coated in spiraling blue flames. He weaved between the titan's strikes, dodging with inhuman speed before slamming his burning fists into the abyssal mass. Every impact sent ripples of fire through the darkness, searing through its form.
But Anissa's mother was relentless.
She swept her scythes forward, sending waves of abyssal energy slicing through the battlefield. The black blades cut through the air, distorting everything in their path.
Duke:
"Tch—!"
He barely managed to dodge, the void cutting through the edge of his arm. A searing pain shot through him, but he gritted his teeth and powered forward.
Franklin, however, didn't escape unscathed. One of the abyssal slashes grazed his side, sending a surge of corruption through his body. He staggered for a brief moment, but then his flames erupted even stronger, burning away the void's taint.
Franklin:
"Not happening!"
His flames roared even brighter, pushing back against the abyssal force.
Anissa's mother raised a single hand, and the void surged once more. The battlefield darkened, as if existence itself was being consumed.
Anissa's Mother:
"Abyssal Erasure."
The shadows collapsed inward, forming a massive singularity—an endless black void that threatened to consume everything. It wasn't just an attack; it was absolute destruction.
Duke and Franklin exchanged a glance.
Duke:
"This is it. We're ending this now!"
Franklin grinned.
Franklin:
"Then let's burn brighter than ever!"
They stepped forward, their flames shifting once more.
The blue flames surrounding them condensed into an even deeper color—an unnatural, radiant white. Their bodies radiated pure energy, as if they had become embodiments of fire itself.
Duke:
"Final Form—Solar Incarnation!"
Franklin:
"Final Form—White Inferno!"
The flames exploded outward, consuming the battlefield. The abyss recoiled for the first time, as if instinctively recognizing the overwhelming force before it.
Duke and Franklin charged together.
Duke's fists blazed with divine flames, each strike carrying the weight of a collapsing sun.
Franklin's fire surged with chaotic intensity, tearing through the void itself.
They moved as one, a synchronized storm of fire and destruction.
Anissa's mother swung her scythes in a desperate attempt to cut them down, but for the first time, she was slower. The abyss hesitated.
Duke ducked under a strike, slamming his fist into her chest. The impact sent a blinding explosion of fire through her body.
Franklin followed up instantly.
He clasped his hands together, forming an unstable, crackling sphere of pure destruction.
Franklin:
"Absolute Wildfire!"
He slammed it directly into her core.
The abyss shrieked.
Anissa's mother's form twisted, her body beginning to break apart. The darkness tried to reform, but the flames devoured it faster than it could regenerate.
Anissa's Mother:
"Impossible… The abyss… should be… eternal…"
Duke and Franklin didn't stop. They pushed forward, pouring every last ounce of their power into one final attack.
Duke:
"Final Judgment—Solar Cataclysm!"
Franklin:
"Final Judgment—Eternal Wildfire!"
The combined attacks merged into one—a blinding explosion of fire that consumed Anissa's mother entirely.
The battlefield was silent.
The abyss was gone.
And Anissa's mother… was no more.
The flames slowly faded.
Duke and Franklin stood there, breathing heavily, their bodies covered in burns and wounds. They had done it.
Duke:
"It's… over."
Franklin exhaled, dropping to his knees.
Franklin:
"Damn… that was insane."
The transmission that connected them to this battlefield flickered. Their bodies wavered as they felt themselves being pulled back to the real world.
With a final breath, they looked forward.
Duke:
"I'll leave it all up to you… Dakota… my son."
Franklin:
"I'll leave it all up to you, my daughter… Ava. And, of course… to the most important member of this war… Dakota."
With that, their vision faded.
And the battle… truly began.
And now it was time to move on to the next battle, the next battle which will be a very important battle.
