Charles eyes didn't leave Aneeka as his driver drove them back home. He didn't want to make it obvious to her that he was staring at her, so instead of looking at her directly, he watched her from the mirror, not even darting his eyes off of her.
Her stomach growled. And she stared in his direction to see if he had noticed. The atmosphere in the car had been wrought with silence except for the occasional buzzing of his alarms.
From the mall they had visited to the electronics where he had shopped a mobile phone for her, they hadn't talked to each other and had walked on in silence.
Ahneeka held her stomach as if doing so would prevent it from growling from the hunger that was burdening him. Charles couldn't hold himself and smiled.
"It means nothing. I'm the one making it make those noises myself" Ahneeka defended, embarrassed by how he was smiling, possibly at her.
