The Stifling Silence

The dinner, thus far, has gone mostly in silence, which wasn't unexpected.

But...

It had grown oppressive. It was. A little.

Intimidating.

There were several nobility in the hall, and each were staring, judging.

And the fact the most intimidating person in the room was right at her side didn't make her feel safe, or as though he were defending her, or anything like that.

If anything.

Donncahd felt even more threatening now. Even when he did nothing but eat.

She's expected the man - or half expected, at least - to attack that woman before they even sat down. Yet, he'd done nothing once she'd backed down.

As if she'd managed to dance right up to the line of no return and then stop herself before crossing over.

She couldn't tell if it was by chance and the woman had no idea how dangerous a game she'd played, or if she were able to do that fully intentionally.
