As I leaned back in my chair, feeling the comforting warmth of a full belly, my mind began to wander.
The conversation between Thalindra and me had been light throughout dinner, mostly filled with teasing and jokes to take the edge off the tension that had been lingering ever since we returned.
But as silence fell over us, I knew I couldn't avoid the topic that had been gnawing at me.
The guild.
And more specifically, what they knew.
I glanced across the table at Thalindra. She was wiping down the counter, her movements casual yet precise.
Even in her most relaxed moments, she seemed entirely in control, an air of calm authority surrounding her. It was comforting and infuriating at the same time.
"Thalindra," I said, my voice cutting through the quiet. She looked up, raising an eyebrow. "We need to talk about the guild."
