Two sides.
One beast, and five people.
The sabertoothed jaguar looked at all this and its presence did not diminish in the least, with one of its front legs, it took a step forward. This leg's fur was covered in blood. This was the leg which had just injured Cui Rong.
With that movement, a powerful scent drifted in the air right in front of the beast.
Right when it seemed like the beast would advance further, it suddenly remained still in place. If other creatures were to take a whiff of the same air, they would probably only identify the smell of blood, however, with the sabertoothed jaguar's powerful sense of smell, it seemed to have identified a familiar scent it detested and was even a bit fearful of.
This was naturally the poison that was affecting Mu Bai, and the others.
It was a ruler of these parts and knew that, a few meters away from this location, there was a mysterious land and many beasts which had either made contact with the vegetation there or ingested anything from it, somehow ended up poisoned and dead.
The scent on the dead beasts, was the very same lingering on Cui Rong's blood and this group.
The entire time it still maintained a readied attack stance, without letting any of its prey out of its line of sight. However, it no longer felt interested in this group, in its eyes, these were not qualified to be prey. They were more like bad fruits. It was quite sharp and decisively turned around and went back into the dark.
Its steps were not hurried at all when it left. Slowly but surely, it vanished.
After it left, no one spoke, the group simply reshuffled their formation wary of all their surroundings and all directions, even the side which the sabertoothed jaguar had originally leapt out from.
A long time passed and nothing suspicious happened.
Only a while later did they relax and look at each other. Everyone wanted to ask same question.
"What just happened?"
The beast had just turned around and left, completely ignoring them. It did not even turn to look back. This was not what they expected. They had already prepared for a bitter struggle but these questions could not be answered.
With a thud, Cui Rong fell to her knees. She had already reached her limit, the tense atmosphere from before had given her a temporary boost of strength. After the sabertoothed jaguar left, she finally got time to pay attention to the injury on her shoulder.
Everyone seeing this held back their curiosity and looked to Cui Rong. No one moved to her side, they just turned to look at the healer Chi Huo. Even after the threat had passed, they did not forget that she was poisoned.
Noticing their gazes, Chi Huo put away his hammer like weapon and took out another bag of healing ointment and threw it at Cui Rong.
"There is a bottle with a paste like remedy, first clean out the wound on your shoulder with some water and apply it directly."
After hearing the healer's instruction, Cui Rong nodded and spoke softly.
"Thank you, if we make it out alive the Cui family will reimburse you accordingly, and I'll recommend your service to the main apothecary officials."
With that said Cui Rong tilted her head a bit, to look down on her shoulder. She put her hands on the wound, seeming ready to start cleaning it but then stopped her actions as she suddenly felt as if the situation was not quite right. Lifting her head up, she saw four pairs of eye balls staring at her upper body.
After being attacked by the sabertoothed jaguar, her clothing had been ripped cleanly and a part of her breasts could be seen clearly. Wu Zhengyi seemed to have been taking an even longer glance at this sight. Bai Ming who had mostly been toyed with Li Mei in the village couldn't but feel locked in place. His eyes unmoving but still lingering on Cui Rong's upper body.
He had to admit, because of their purpose and her demeanor, he had not looked at Cui Rong as a member of the fairer sex, but now that he did, he seemed to seen a different side to her and found her quite enchanting. However, this blissful sight did not last long as Cui Rong spoke coldly.
"If you keep staring, I'll dig out those eyes"
Everyone immediately snapped out of that moment and turned around, giving her a bit of space in the middle.
Wu Zhengyi seemed to be grumbling inwardly, "Hey hey, relax, it was just a peek."
Of course, he did not say this out loud but Li Tian and Bai Ming who seemed to have read his mind couldn't help but chuckle softly.
After everyone turned away, the blush on her face seemed to fade away a bit. In that moment she started treating herself, occasionally lifting her head to check if anyone was looking.
However, everyone kept their heads away and did not turn even an inch. After all, in the short moment they came into contact with her they now had a clear image of her.
It was not the soft frail womanly figure. It was more like a lioness.
A while later she was done and everyone turned around to face her again. She did not have that enchanting air she exuded earlier and her top clothing had been adjusted.
Taking in this familiar look, their interest immediately vanished and noticing her menacing look they turned their gazes away.
"Ahem!", Chi Huo broke the silence.
"I believe everyone has rested enough. Although the sabertoothed jaguar retreated unexpectedly, we don't have the luxury to dwell on that. So, let's just consider this as the Heavenly Immortal taking pity on us and be on our way. Now, we should be close enough to our destination."
His words were quite sensible.
Looking at him, his current mood could be seen by everyone. A sense of self-satisfaction seemed to be plastered on his face. This was different from the last time he had given Si Niang medicine. At that time, he looked like his heart was bleeding.
Si Niang's facial muscles twitched a bit.
This fucker!
How could he not understand where this sense came from. Chi Huo giving him the medicine could be seen as an act of quelling or defusing the situation, but him giving medicine to Cui Rong, was more like an investment and after receiving Cui Rong's appreciation, he was completely ecstatic.
However, even though Si Niang understood this, he did not bring this this up.
Everyone seemed to also agree with Chi Huo's words and unlike before they did not disregard his presence, given how he had handled the situation and saved Cui Rong, they began to take note of this healer.
So, without any further delays the group set off once again.
