Death of The Traitor

(Third Person POV)

King Viserys stood up from his seat, "The Trial is over!!" he said, "Prince Baelon Targaryen is victorious!"

Everyone that was watching had been staring in pure shock and awe, the sight of Trevor on the ground, dead. His entire midsection was cleaved open, blood and guts had poured out onto the floor.

Aemma Targaryen, Princess Rhaenyra's daughter, was looking away as her eyes were closed and holding back tears. She was trembling as she was clutching onto her dress. There was nothing but emotions filling the entirety of her body; she had just watched her Father be killed in front of her. Despite being a confessed traitor, her kind and gentle heart could bear the weight of accepting the fact that she had to watch him die.

Rhaenyra was staring at the sight of Trevor on the ground, her face was pale and her expression was softening, no longer full of shock as it was a couple of seconds prior. It was as if the Princess did not know how to process anything any further and she was accepting the cruel reality; Her Husband was now dead.

Viserys pointed at the arena inside, "Retrieve the wounded!" he commanded, "Now! I will not have any lives be lost! Quickly now!"

In the arena, Baelon quickly went over to Daemon who was clutching his leg, "Uncle!"

Daemon waved him away, "I am fine." He said, "Go check on your brother...."

Baelon had already sheathed his sword, "Very well."

The Heir rushed over to where Aemond was trying to sit up. The One-Eyed Prince was grimacing in pain, holding back grunts as his face was going paler than usual.

"Brother..." Baelon crouched down next to him, "Are you alright?"

Aemond nodded, "I'll live..." He said, "I hope. Such a shame, though....to be felled so easily."

Baelon then saw as the Kingsguard, followed by squires and the Maesters entered the arena and quickly rushed over to the Princes and other fighters.

Baelon patted his brother's head, "You did well, brother." He said with a slight smile, "I am proud of you."

Aemond nodded, "Shut up and go to your wife." He said as a Maester quickly crouched down and began to tend to his wound, "She looks very stressed."

Baelon straightened up and quickly looked over to the stands where Heleana was looking at him; she had stood up, holding her hands in front of her and was murmuring under her breath. Next to her, Queen Alicent was also standing, looking at the scene with tears in her eyes.

It was an understatement that Alicent and Helaena were worried. But now that it was over, all they hoped for was that Aemond and Gwayne were alright.

Baelon walked over to the edge of the arena and jumped the barrier, "Helaena..." He said softly, "It's over..."

Helaena quickly walked down the stands and began to run over to Baelon, who wasted no time in running to meet her.

The Princess jumped into his arms and Baelon embraced her tightly, "Baelon!" She cried as he lifted her from the ground, holding her tightly, "You are alright....!"

Baelon nodded, "Yes...." I said, "I am....."

Helaena rubbed her cheek against his, "Oh, Baelon...." She said as tears formed in her eyes, "Do not ever do that again.....my heart cannot take it....."

Baelon kissed her on the cheek, "My love...." He said as he set her down, "I would never leave you in this world alone....."

"Never...."

************

Viserys walked inside a dark room where only a few candles were lit, followed by Otto as they both stepped through the doorway.

The King stopped and looked at his Hand, "Otto..." He said, "Please...let us be alone."

Otto looked at him, "Very well..." He said as they both heard sobbing, "I and Ser Harold will wait outside."

Viserys nodded, "Thank you."

Otto nodded back and walked out the door, closing the door behind him.

Viserys let out a sigh and turned around, beginning to walk over to a chair where Rhaenyra sat, hunched over and sobbed with her face covered.

The King's heart felt heavy, seeing her eldest child and precious daughter's body trembling as her sobbing got louder and harder.

He reached Rhaenyra, "I am so sorry, my dear...." He said as he bent over and hugged her from behind, "I did not expect for this to happen..."

Rhaenyra slowly wrapped her arms around her father's, "H-He killed my boys, Father..." She sobbed, "W-Why would he do that? Why....?"

Viserys caressed her head, "I do not know...." He said softly, "Gods, I wish I knew what went through that man's head...."

"H-He didn't care for them...." Rhaenyra sobbed, "He didn't love them.....He let them die....the plague that took them.....he denied them proper help....gods, I am so foolish.....I am so stupid....I should have listened to Baelon back then....."

"Shh...." Viserys said, "How could you have known? That man had his claws deep in you. While Baelon tried to save you from him, you did what you believed was right..."

"But m-my boys...." Rhaenyra wept, "They're gone...!"

"And the man responsible for that is now dead...." Viserys said softly, "It's over....everything will be okay now...."

Rhaenyra looked at him, "W-What will happen to me? To Aemma?"

Viserys frowned, "Nothing." He said, "Absolutely nothing."

"Aemma is his daughter..." Rhaenyra sniffed as her eyes were red with tears, "No matter what you say or do, that will not change."

"If you two are guilty for some crime, The King will pardon you. But I will not punish innocents for something that vile man had done." Viserys said firmly, "Baelon will no longer seek vengeance for the injustice that was done to him."

"He hates me." Rhaenyra said

"On the contrary, my dear...." Viserys patted her cheek, "You are his sister.....he adores you, he loves you with all his heart. He is simply doing what his heart knows is right. He fought not just for the Realm, he fought for his Family. He fought for Helaena....he fought for you....he fought for Aemma. He may be cold to you at this moment and he will be even colder in the future.....but know that he does care for you....."

Rhaenyra looked down, "Father....." She said, "This is all my fault.....I should not have chosen Trevor.....perhaps.....p-perhaps Helaena would not have suffered that pain....."

"No, do not say that." Viserys said, "The only good thing that he has done is given my beautiful grandchildren....a wonderful Granddaughter.....and two grandsons...who would have grown up to be strong knights....."

"I miss them so much." She sniffed before wiping her tears away, "So much....."

"I know dear...." Viserys said, "I need you to be strong now.....there is so much to be done.....Baelon is not done. I know he intends to finish what he started....for the sake of Helaeana's comfort....I know the kind of man he is now...."

"He will be ruthless against his enemies."
