"Run, hide, They are coming"
"Ahhhhhh"
Ghod was woken up this morning by a loud noise. He heard heavy footsteps first, then was fully awakened by the screams of people.
He ran out of his room and out of the pack house to check what was going on when he saw pack members running towards the pack house and warriors running around.
He was confused about what was happening; it was still so early that the sky had just started clearing up. He knew what was happening when he opened up the mental block he had on his mind, and his wolf woke up.
His wolf's senses picked up everything that was happening immediately. There were strange people on his land.
And with the mental block being away, the different voices of his warriors and other top members of the pack began to enter his head.
"Alpha! The pack is under attack."
"They are approaching the pack house already; there are more of them than the number of warriors we have here!"
"They're not attacking; they're just defending against our attacks."
All through the time those mind links were dropping in his head, he had shifted into his wolf form and was already running towards the fight scene.
It wasn't far from the pack house, but it felt like an eternity before he arrived. He let out a ferocious growl when he saw they were already running away. He propelled his wolf to run faster, but it was all to no avai
Ghod and the other warriors chased after them until they reached neutral lands where anyone could peregrinate.
He forced his wolf to stop, effectively stopping the warriors with him, too. They couldn't do anything to the people who trespassed into their pack, even if they caught them.
They were now on the neutral lands, and no rule applied there; anyone could walk, run, or do anything, including rogues.
He ran back to the pack grounds, which were in huge disarray. No one was killed, but a lot of people were injured. With the look of things, it seemed those wolves were just there to show themselves off.
"Why did no one call me when they entered the pack lands? How come I wasn't informed earlier? You all thought you could handle it on your own? Anything could have happened!" he yelled at his warriors after they all shifted.
"We tried to reach you, Alpha, but no one could," the head warrior stepped forward.
Right, his mental block was up. He didn't even know when he put it up; he never does that unless he's extremely tired and needs a break from the pack.
"No one knew my chamber, too? What were you all even thinking? And when did the fight start?" he bombarded them with questions.
"It started just minutes ago. They came in their full numbers and pushed their way through our defenses at the border," the head warrior answered again.
"I need everything you say about them as soon as possible. I'll also try to get something on them. That's a warning sign; I expect everyone to be on alert from now on," he ordered them, looking at everyone now.
"Noted, Alpha!" they chorused.
He turned and walked away from them with pinched eyebrows. He rarely even sleeps, not to mention sleeping that deep.
He must have been really tired for him not to have sensed anything; even his wolf should have picked up something, regardless of whether they were asleep.
They were in some way bound to the pack; anything that happens doesn't go past them.
Everything going on for weeks is enough for him to pass out that way.
He returned to the pack house and his office to sort out some things and have meetings. He was so buried in the work that he didn't know when it was afternoon.
He hadn't even taken his bath yet nor checked up on Helena since he got into the office. He had planned on getting out of the office to take his bath when a knock came on.
It was too rapid to be considered normal. He hadn't even ordered whoever it was to come in when they did.
"Alpha, we found a body in the woods, a small boy," the warrior entered, panting.
Ghod stood up immediately with a racing mind. "What the f*ck did you say?" he growled and almost disappeared before the warrior in a nanosecond.
"We found the body of a little—" The warrior wanted to complete but was stopped Ghod, who wrapped his arm around his neck.
"I f*caking heard you the first time. Take me there now!"
They ran out of the office and went to the clearing behind the pack house.
They ran deep into the woods and arrived at a certain place when Ghod stopped at the smell of blood. It wasn't just any blood but that of a pack member.
He felt the mental breaking of the boy who was bleeding in his head, making him fall to his knees when he got there. The boy was no older than twelve but was lying on the ground dead.
There was no pulse or any traces of breathing in him anymore; his skin was cold and lifeless already.
Besides, the mental disconnection he left earlier showed that the boy was long gone.
He let out a loud growl that shook the woods and every form of living and non-living thing around them and in the distance.
His wolf was angrier than he was; he felt the disconnection more than Ghod did. Every pack member born or initiated into the pack was effectively connected to the Alpha.
Everything started settling in him when
Ghod calmed down enough to see through his eyes.
First, they were attacked unexpectedly, and now one of his pack members was killed. What was going on?
He immediately felt every pack member's sadness over losing one of them.
