Eldra's New Heroes: A New Mission

The feast went on smoothly, the numbers of the other heroes increasing rapidly. It turned out the city was like a danger magnet and there had to be thirty plus heroes, including Arin's team to help protect it.

However, as the night wore on, Uravis' excitement died, bored of every single thing. He was itching to see a screen, his games or scroll through his socials, instead of sitting and celebrating, he had already downed about five glasses of wine yet he still felt empty.

He couldn't also shake off the feeling of being an outsider, despite the festivities and the praise. each time he was asked where he came from, he could only laugh and say he was from a village extremely far away, that he only visited Arin's village to see his sister.

The music and laughter's faded into the background as he lost himself in thought, he felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to see Ivie standing behind him, with a smug expression on her face.

"Well look who's lost in thought," she said, her voice dripping with pure sarcasm. "The great Drakonis, the hero of the hour. What's wrong? can't handle the attention?"

Uravis felt annoyed at Ivie's tone. He didn't need this, he did not want anyone to anger him, not now. Not when he was already feeling out of place and his mind was not doing a great job either.

He was feeling a mix of emotions, Worry, Impatience, pride and confusion.

"I'm fine, Ivie," he replied abruptly, trying to brush her off.

But Ivie would not let up. "Oh, I am sure you are," she said, rolling her eyes. "You are just so prefect, aren't you? The King's new favourite, the hero of the people. Its enough to make one sick," she spat, her voice laced with envy and hate. Ever since he arrived, the attention that went to her was now directed to him. He had a perfect sister and now he was more popular than her.

Unfortunately, Uravis felt his anger rising, but he fought to keep it at bay. He would not let Ivie get to him, not now, not ever. There were more important things to face.

"Ivie what is your problem?" he asked her, his voice firm but controlled, erupting in anger was always bad for him, because it would take hours to calm down, if not days.

Ivie's smile grew wider, "My problem? You are my problem, Drakonis. That high and mighty demeanor you put up is all fake, along with your hero act. I see right through you."

"You really need to check yourself Ivie," he uttered, her words stinging him because she was right. He rose up in his feet and turned away, , leaving Ivie in shock and a frown.

He made his way back to the apartment, making up his mind to switch back to Uravis so he would move freely.

He got into his room after checking in, locked the door and switched back to his body, sighing in great relief, to feel himself in his actual body.

Tall, his perfect build, not too slim, not out of shape. Just perfect.

He sneaked out of the apartments through the window, did a flip off the building and landed behind a store beside the apartment. Once there, he was baffled at how he did it and the fact he did it effortlessly was also surprising.

He began strolling around the city, walking casually without anyone stopping him to ask him random questions about his 'adventures.'

He walked for close to an hour, taking in the beautiful view of the city, till he came across a shed.

Seeing as the person there emitted great magical energy, he immediately went there, hoping he could get answers and maybe help.

But then who he saw there, made him choke on his saliva. General Thorne, wearing a top hat over his council uniform.

"Hello there, young man," Thorne said, "What do you need from the great mage of communication and teleportation," he said, instantly giving Uravis a reason to smile.

He clenched his fists, building the courage to speak, "I would like to speak to my sister."

Throne smile widened, then he snapped his fingers, two lockets coming to view, "Anything to help me locate her, or a brief description?"

"Yeah sure, but" Uravis trailed off, "How much am I going to pay for this?"

Throne chuckled softly and ruffled Uravis' hair, "I don't offer assistance for money, Especially in cases like yours."

Uravis nodded and took the first locket from him, he gave a well detailed description of Claire, from her hair color to her attitude and luckily she was easy to find.

"She is currently in her living room, staring at a beautiful emerald necklace," Throne stated, earning a sigh of relief from Uravis. "Do you want me to send this to her now? Or..."

"Yes please," Uravis answered almost immediately, cutting him off. "And how do I contact her with the lockets?"

Thorne snapped his finger, and one of the lockets vanished, he handed over the other to Uravis after signing on it and smiled, "Just flip it open, think about who you want to contact, that is if the person also has the same device. And then you can speak to her."

"Ah, thank you so much sir," Uravis bowed in appreciation and hurried off. But he froze when he heard Thorne say that he had to get to the palace for a briefing.

He instantly recovered and picked to his heels, he dipped the locket in his pocket and switched back to Drakonis, behind a bush. He made his way into the palace the same second the King was arriving, and Thorne as well appeared, still wearing the top hat.

Panting heavily, Uravis apologized for arriving late and asked that they continued.

Then the king began, "We summoned you all to give you a new mission, well missions. Regarding the cores you have found and are yet to find.

"So far, from our few investigation, the mysterious organization is currently in this city and they are working relentlessly to get them."

"So, once the sun rises tomorrow, Arin. You and your team will start investigating the Organization, Thorne will provide you with information you will need to start your work."

King Arineth uttered, and gestured over to Thorne who had a massive box in front of him. "Your gears and weapons you need."

"We will not fail you, your majesty."

They said in unison, promising to do their best and emerge victorious in their new mission.
