The grey_skinned lady's gaze pierced through Uravis, her white sclera seeming to bore into his soul, like his body was just a clear liquid, she watched him as he digested what she said.
"What danger exactly? Because I see nothing wrong with the city."
"The Void Serpent has risen, and its darkness is spreading rapidly across the land, villages and even cities," she answered, her voice holding no emotion like nothing was wrong. It almost seemed like he was talking to a recording or a machine.
Uravis mind reeled as the lady's words hung in the air, "I am lost here, What is a Void Serpent?"
She sighed, already knowing speaking to Uravis would require alot of explaining, "The Void Serpent is a figure, it takes on the form of everything, but mostly a serpent that consumes or corrupts anything in its path. It seeks to erase every form of good, identies of powerful people, till everything is reduced to nothingness. And you are the key to stopping it."
Uravis' grip on his mask tightened as he imagined how facing such a figure would feel like, the daunting shadow of a serpent that could easily devour anything in its path, sent chills down his spine.
"What makes you think I can stop it?"
Her gaze seemed to see right through him, she saw doubt, pride in himself, his abilities and how he used it effectively even when he only had experience with them on games and not in real.
"You have transcended identities, Uravis. You have walked in the shoes of Nightshade and Drakonis, Individuals who are skilled in different ways. You have the power to adapt to anyone and anything."
Uravis closed his eyes and titled his head as his thoughts raced. He had never thought of his abilities as power, strong enough to defeat something as powerful as a threat to existence, but rather a quirk that he could use to do good. But now, he realized that it might be the key to saving this world.
"What do I need to do?" he asked, determination rising within him. His actual plan to help gather cores for the king, was now accompanied with saving the world. 'Can this world get any better?'
The lady's expression turned solemn. "Find ancient figures, those who hold the secrets of the past. They will guide you on your journey. But be warned, Uravis. The Void Serpent will not be easily defeated. You need all your strength, unlock all your identities because they will be needed during your journey."
"I guess but will I see you again?" he asked, now coming to a conclusion that if he needed to save the world, he would need powerful allies like her and anyone with potential abilities.
She gave a small smile, "I am not certain about being sent again, but like the zodiac signs from where you came from, There are ten Oracles that might be sent your way. So till next time."
With that, the lady vanished, leaving Uravis still stunned. It was all too good to be true, the more he continued living and getting familiar with their new world, the more thrills came his way. It was like he was playing a game and the boss was the Void Serpent.
Claire collapsed to the floor immediately the woman vanished. He rushed to her side, helped her up and took her to the bed to sit. "What happened?" she asked, still dazed and her sigh was still blurry.
Uravis eyes locked with hers, he saw that her beautiful green eyes was replaced with white, like that of the strange oracle lady, then the green colours returned. "You are an actual gate between unearthly and normal..wait normal unearthly, how cool is that?"
"I don't understand but yeah, that's stage of my abilities that I don't really control," she laughed nervously , "But would that mean I get to join you on your quests?"
Uravis nodded slowly, but he knew he would have to keep her away from danger, since she was his responsibility now. "So much for being older than me, you are like a little kid," he chuckled and patted her head, but she slapped it away.
"I am two years older than you are, so that counts. Now, who did you meet?"
"Well some oracle lady gave me a new mission, I..no, we, need to stop a Void Serpent,"
Claire eyes widened but then she smiled, "I'm with you, Uravis. Whatever it takes."
"Even if it means using your abilities?"
She nodded slowly then he exclaimed joyfully, "Awesome."
They rose up from where they sat, both ready to face challenges ahead. Little did they know the Void Serpent's influence was already spreading, its darkness spreading slowly.
As they left the room, they found Lady Seraphina and Torvald waiting in the living room for them, they had already finished eating...even Uravis doubted that they left some food for him.
"What happened? You both spent so much time there, or...did you both.." she trailed off gasping in shock, but Uravis scoffed.
"You wish, like I said, she is my sister. But there are other pressing matters."he said, his expression turning serious. He took a deep breath, hoping he would not regret telling them about his mission.
Not like he could do it alone, but he had no choice. "The Void Serpent is coming and we need to stop it."
Seraphina's smile died when he spoke, memories flashed before her eyes like a spark, the Serpent was the one thing she feared deeply and now...they had to face it. "Is it that bad?"
"Why ask me? You both should know about it," he pointed at them, trying to defend himself since he knew nothing and to tell them that they shouldn't depend on him for answers.
"She asks because many have faced that Dark entity, and did not make it. Her family got wiped out during the battle against it," Torvald explained but opened up his hands with a smile on his face, "But I'm in, It has been years since I found myself in a life or death situation."
'I already like this guy,' he told himself and high-fived Torvald, then he turned to her, "So Seraphina..are you in?"
"It's Lady Seraphina to you..."
"You are twenty one, What is even your deal with that title," Torvald said, cutting her off. He was tired of how she carried herself around like some noble old lady, just because she was made the city's hero.
Seraphina scoffed and crossed her arms under her breast, "I like the title and it fits me, so deal with it. Now as I was saying before some disrespectful man interrupted me," she flashed a quick glare at Torvald and turned to Uravis, "I am in, as long as I don't get to wear those classless outfits commoners wear."
Uravis face palmed, Seraphina was not actually who he thought she was. She was just a normal lady with a high taste..but she was strong.
Uravis smiled, "We'll need to gather allies... Seraphina, your friends. Torvald, your workers. While I get some old friends of mine. We have to find some old guys to give me directions."
