Message from a Mysterious Entity I

Uravis eyes fluttered open, his head pounding with a dull ache. He was back in his manor, lying on the sofa. Claire sat beside him with a look of concern pasted on her face.

"What happened?" Uravis asked, his voice weak and strained like he had screamed for thirty minutes straight.

"You collapsed after your fight with Seraphina and Torvald," Claire replied, "I think you used too much energy."

Uravis groaned and sat up, trying to remember what led to his collapse. The fight, the teleportations, the earthquake, large hands....it all came flooding back.

Especially how he switched in between, from Nightshade to Drakonis and back, then he realized that must be what made him loose consciousness.

Nightshade already had abilities on his own, teleportations over short distances, fast reflexes and strength in his limbs to enable climbing and leaping. Then the energy he had to use while battling.

Drakonis on the other hand was a sword master, and he could wield a sword perfectly, and every slash contained a little amount of energy.

Then to switch, Uravis would be exhausting his energy as well, thus resulting in him loosing consciousness.

"Where are they?" he asked as he tried to sit up.

"They're recovering," Claire said, gently pushing him back onto the sofa. "They are not going anywhere Uravis, To be honest with you, they were impressed with your skills. They decided to join forces with you."

Uravis' eyes widened in surprise, he didn't expect them to want to join forces, because they were far more experienced and of higher positions than him. He barely knew anything about magic if not for his games.

"So what do you think?" Claire asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Uravis hesitated, he measured his options. He needed allies, but could he trust them. Especially Lady Seraphina who seemed too elegant to want to join forces with him.

He was even surprised when she sent him a letter regarding his new position as baron. She wanted to discuss but they ended up battling, which turned out to be fun for all of them.

Then he answered, "I really don't know," he admitted, as much as he hated to. He was not one to be out of ideas, even in the toughest and most complicated situations. "I need time to think."

Claire nodded with a smile, "Take all the time you need, but remember, you can't do this alone."

Offcourse he couldn't do it alone, he was just a gamer from a world, probably a hundred years back. And all he could count on was his abilities and his knowledge of gaming, which seemed to relate to that of the world he is in now.

Then a question popped up in his head, "Claire, you have a little knowledge on magic right?"

Claire froze, she didn't expect him to ask her such question, she laughed nervously and raised her hand to the back of her neck, contemplating on whether she should tell him or not.

"Claire," he called, raising his brows with a questioning look in his eyes, "You are hiding something from me right?"

"Err...Yes..I mean no," she trailed off and then lowered her head, "I'm sorry."

"What do you mean you are sorry, you could be of great help to me. That is good news, tell me everything you know," Uravis said in one breath, holding her hands in his as he waited in anticipation for her to speak.

Claire hesitated for a moment and then opened her mouth, "You see, I am a summoner."

That moment, Uravis went silent, he was shocked to the bone. He expected just one thing from her. He wanted to know what type of knowledge she had on magic, he didn't expect her to be a summoner.

"You mean, you can summon beasts, gods and deities of all kinds?"

"Yes I can, but it was forbidden," she replied and her mood suddenly changed. "Summoning was abolished in the few cities I've lived in because people with such abilities used it for evil. They summon beasts of any kind and start tormenting everyone. It got so bad gods and deities had to seize and most times kill those with the ability."

"I was allowed to go because made no use of mine at all," she concluded and smiled, "You don't have to worry about me doing anything, I don't plan on using it untill war comes."

Uravis averted his gaze from her and then sighed, "Is there a possibility that you can be summoned?"

"Yes there is," she replied with a smile, "The same way I can summon anything and anyone, others can too, especially gods."

"I was hoping I could make you my right hand man, You are wise and you could be of great help for me in the future," Uravis uttered, already upset that her abilities had to be locked away because of other people's evil deeds. As his mind raced with thoughts his stomach then growled lowly, reminding him he was still hungry even after eating with Seraphina and Torvald back in the city.

Claire then chuckled softly and rose to her feet, she helped him stand as well and frowned. "Are you alright with being yourself in front of them?"

He shook his head but sighed, "I don't think I can change back now that I know there are side effects, I'll just have to stay out of sight till it is necessary."

"Then wear a mask," she suggested as she pushed his mask into his hands, then with an innocent smile she dragged him to the kitchen, paving way for him to walk in, to let the aroma of different delicacies hit his nose.

"Okay, what ever you prepared smells wonderful....When did you prepare all this?" Uravis asked, gesturing at the bowls with different kinds of food. As he took note of every single thing she made, he felt guilty that they would go to waste, "I don't think I can finish all this," he confessed to her because it would make no sense if he wasted what she prepared without giving her a heads up first, and he did not want to stuff himself with food.

"No silly," she leaned closer and whispered, "Put on the mask," then she stepped back and smiled, "I prepared food for everyone."

That same moment, Lady Seraphina and Torvald strolled in looking terrible, Torvald had a bandage around his head with a roll on cotton wool in on of his nose. Lady Seraphina had a bag of ice on her head and behind her neck where Drakonis hit her.

When Torvald's gaze landed on Uravis, a frown appeared on his face, "You are still wearing that mask... what is it that you are hiding from us?"

Uravis chuckled softly and walked to the door of the kitchen, "I simply would not want the ladies to fall for my good looks," he winked at Seraphina who scoffed and turned away. Then he made gestures at Claire to follow him.

"Please make yourself at home, I want to take a quick shower."

Having said that, he made his way out of the room and up the flights of stairs to where his room was, he walked in and made sure Claire closed the door behind her before he took off the mask.

"I really need to find a way to hide my identity without a mask," he uttered but was interrupted by a strong pulse of energy, he turned to where it came from and only saw Claire staring at the mirror by the door leading to the bathroom. "Claire?" as he stretched out his hands to touch her, a faint silver aura formed around her and moved to her hands that where on the mirror.

He stared as his mind slowly got scrambled when he thought of what he would do. She didn't look like she was in pain, but what was happening to her was strange. When he decided on a new plan, a face different from hers suddenly appeared on the mirror.

A grey skinned woman with her sclera completely white, she did not have an Iris either. On her forehead was what looked like the tattoo of the Taurus zodiac sign, with horns extended out of her skull and backwards with a slight curve downwards. Like a Bull.

He wanted to be respectful but knowing that the strange lady had something to do with what happened to Claire made him drop the gentleman act.

"What did you do to her?" he asked, his voice laced with worry and anger, "And who are you?"

"Silence," the strange lady said, despite how calm her voice was, it sounded like a roar in Uravis' ears and it got him more angry.

"Release her then I will keep quiet, Besides who are you to tell me to be silent?" he spat angrily, he wanted to pull Claire away from there but he would not want to make a mistake that would harm her in the process.

"Calm down, Uravis. She is the connection between us and after I am finished she will return."

"Return?" Uravis' frowned deepened, "She is not even here."

"Yes, but I am here to warn you about the impending dangers ahead."
