The Arcane Library

Elyria's eyes welled up with tears as she gazed at Drakonis, her expression was a mix of gratitude and desperation. "Thank you, Drakonis. I knew I could count on you," She took a deep breath, composing herself. "The curse.... it's unlike anything our healers have seen. It's as if it's feeding on father's life force, draining his energy with each day passing day."

Drakonis nodded, his thoughts racing with possibilities, he had already made a promise to her and he had to fulfill it.... especially when the Elven kingdom could help him.

An encounter with people who place dark curse must be something related to the Void Serpent, and since the king was also studying them, there was a chance he would get answers too.

"I'll still need to examine the King, your highness, at least know what I'll be dealing with. Can you take me to him?" he asked, knowing he would have to examine the King like doctors did in his world.

Elyria nodded and led Drakonis back to the throne room, where Claire waited, observing and taking in the marvelous view before her.

They walked past her after Drakonis' flashed a quick smile at her. As they approached the King's chambers, Drakonis could sense the faint aura of dark magic lingering in the air. The room was filled with it, like smoke.

Inside the chambers, the King lay on his bed, his gaze focused on the ceiling above, his hazel eyes were dull as well as his skin. Drakonis approached him, focusing his senses on the curse. So he could pick up something that would help him.

"Your Majesty," Drakonis said softly as he crouched down beside the King's bed, "I will do everything in my power to lift the curse, but I will need your help afterwards. May I examine you?"

The King nodded weakly and sat up, Drakonis then placed the back of his hands on the King's forehead and instantly withdrew, "You're cold?"

"It's fluctuates," The King said and chuckled.

'You still laugh with your condition,' Uravis thought and face palmed, "Ah yes, Your Highness, what is your name?"

"My name?" his brows furrowed, "What do you need my name for?"

Drakonis shrugged and smirked, "If I have to do an incantation, I can't so it without saying your name seven time or ten times. Right? You don't expect me to say, your highness, your highness, your highness, right?"

The King laughed and smiled, "Felix and please do not use my name for an incantation."

Drakonis chuckled softly and smiled, "You can move your body perfectly," he mumbled and then raised his head to look at him, "Any other symptoms?"

"At night it gets hard to breath or move, I can't really swallow solid food and I love food," King Felix muttered painfully and continued, "In different occasions my body paralyses especially if I stay in a position for too long."

"Exactly like sleep paralysis," Drakonis uttered and smiled, "It's exactly as I assumed. The curse placed on you if from the Void Serpent, and I think I might have a solution," he rose up to his feet and turned to Elyria, "Do you have a healer around?"

"I am one," she said, earning a smile from him.

"Good, come with me," he said and waited till the King layed back in bed before leaving with Elyria behind him. 'If the way things work in my world, work here, then the King would have more time. At least I should be able to get a solution.'

They went back to the throne room and saw Claire in a deep conversation with the man that led them into the palace...the general. When Claire spotted Drakonis she bowed respectfully to the general and walked to him.

"Any good news?"

"Yes and no, I might have an idea of how to lift the curse, but that would take time. However, if we can keep the King alive and slightly healthy for a few days then that should be a enough," he paused and turned to the Princess.

"Elyria, I want you to go to any of the hospitals or healing organisation around, ask them for a syringes that can stay on a person's body for a long time, pipes to transfer blood and liquid into the body through those syringes, and treated water, multivitamins, liquid food or something close to that and bandages," then he paused to think for a while.

"Or when you get there, ask for intravenous syringes, drips and liquids containing all the food a human needs, be specific about the human part, Get about five liters of blood and connect all of them to the drips and into the King's vein. Claire join her, I have to talk to someone."

Then he bowed slightly and exited the room through the stairs leading to the roof, he dipped his hands into his pocket and brought out the glass slab. After doing a few taps and scroll on it, Seraphina's face popped up as a holograph.

"I thought you would never call, What do you need?"

"I want everything you know on curses, especially ones related to the Void Serpent."

She frowned deeply, the cocky smile on her face falling as he uttered those words. "What happened? Or what did you do?"

"Believe me, I have done nothing," he replied, "Just answer me, I will explain when we meet."

"I don't really know much, but I am close to a library that has thousands of information about curses and a few about the Void Serpent." she explained and turned her head to the side, "What exactly is going on Drakonis?"

"Just wait for me there and send your location to me," he said and disconnected then he turned around only to see Elyria standing behind him. "Why are you still here?"

"I wanted to give you something," she uttered, her voice laced with guilt, she stretched out her hand and opened it up, revealing a pendant that had the a pythons head on it with a skull, then he frowned, "I am reall sorry for keeping it away, I didn't actually trust you. Until now."

Drakonis sighed and took it out of her hand, "Take care of your father and please keep an eye on my sister."

"No problem," she smiled and left.

Drakonis drew out his sword and raised it to the sky, when the sun's light hit it, it bounced off it and into the clouds, giving a signal. Then he dropped his hands and stepped back.

The squak of his eagle alerted him then he inhaled and switched to Nightshade, his body now cladded with black and a mask, he jumped off the edge of the palace and onto the Eagle's back. "North and drop me..." he lowered his gaze to the slab in his other hand that he had taken out if his pocket. "Directly above the Arcane Library."

With that said, the eagle flapped its wings and glided through the clouds, the wind collided with Nightshade's face but it didn't seem like there was something, it was like he was surrounded by a shield.

Nightshade kept his gaze on the ground below, his eyes scanning the forest below after the eagle had already left the Elven Kingdom. Then a massive tower came to view, hidden under vines, grasses and surrounded by trees. It was actually hidden away from the feeble minded few and Nightshade could only see it because of his eyes.

Directly above the tower, he patted the eagle's head and leaped off it's back, descending at an incredibly fast rate. He dived towards the tower, held out his hands and grabbed a vine, that unfortunately was not enough to hold him.

He then heaved a sigh and vanished leaving behind a trail of black smoke. To avoid using too much of his energy, he appeared a few feet away from the ground and landed barely on his feet. But he quickly switched to Drakonis before reaching the ground.

Seraphina walked up to him with smug grin on her face, she held out her hand to help him up, he held her hand and rose to his feet with her help. Then he exhaled.

'I really have to think next time, before pulling a stunt like that,' he told himself after dusting off sand from his body, then he raised his head to the tower. "Is this it?" he asked, unsure about why thelibrary should be the size and height of a skyscraper.

She glanced behind her and smiled, "Yes it is, Welcome to the Arcane Library."
