The Trusted, Also Betrays

Vasquez and Nightshade appeared at the top of the State house, built at the center of Darkhold, the best place for a mass annihilation.

Its shadow cast a silhouette over the city's market where–as fate would have it, half of the population happened to be.

Vasquez sat on the roof beside, Nightshade who stood, with his hands crossed to his chest, both awaiting the arrival of the others.

"How large did you say the explosion is?" Vasquez inquired, to make sure he would not be too relaxed.

"Large enough to get to the fortress, I guess," Nightshade replied, and unfolded his arms, "So, have you had any encounter with the Void Serpent?"

Vasquez chuckled, not sparing him a glance with a smirk settling on his face, "Are you trying to start a conversation because the atmosphere feels awkward?"

Nightshade scoffed and turned his head away, "Be grateful I even tried to start one," he retorted and heaved a sigh, "At least give me an answer, I need to know what we are up against."

"I'm surprised you are not mad at me for poisoning the King," Vasquez uttered, slowly closing his eyes to read his surroundings more.

"You are Insane and anything you do is like watching a movie, so no, at least you had your reasons," Nightshade replied, "Now, I want an answer."

Vasquez shrugged, "I could give a little out, since it's you."

"I find that wrong in so many ways."

Vasquez chuckled softly and sighed, "Well the Void Serpent is not actually an It or a an animal of some sort as everyone assumes," he paused to Clare his throat, "The Void Serpent is a man."

Nightshade nodded, slightly shocked about the revelation but the Void Serpent's gender was not what mattered. He had to know what the Void Serpent does and why, or what he was like. "Go on."

"He is," Vasquez hesitated then he laughed and raised his hands to his face, "He is my father."

"You're joking," Nightshade said, as he switched to Uravis and pulled his mask over his face, "King Felix is your father."

"Step father, My mother, the elf queen, had a history with two men, one being secretly being the Void Serpent," Vasquez stated and raised his head to the sky, "I stabbed him in the back twice and he has made attempt to kill me and I survived but left. That's how I went rogue and became his enemy," he gave a short laugh, "He must be burning with rage right now."

"I don't even want to know why he is evil at least I have a way to get to him."

"No you don't, He moves like the wind," Vasquez cut him off and rose up to his feet, "Everyone is here," he added to change the subject quickly.

Elyria leaped onto the roof of the State house behind them, she then crumpled to the ground to catch her breath after running and jumping for hours. "There....Are... soldiers coming this way," she said breaking off due to her panting.

"Are you okay?" Uravis asked as he moved closer to her and crouched beside her, "You don't look good."

And he was right, she looked pale and the energy emitting from her was faint, too faint, compared to the surge of energy he usually felt if was close enough.

Elyria smiled nervously, she wiped sweat off her forehead, then she raised her skirt up, revealing an injury on her thigh that she had wrapped with a piece of cloth.

Uravis gave her a stern look and at the same time he was scolding her silently, for being reckless.

"I didn't notice until few blocks away," she admitted, still with a smile on her face like she was not loosing a huge amount of blood.

"Sometimes I wonder if you have a brain or you just don't use it," he uttered and raised himself up, "I can't heal you now, can you wait till we are done?"

"Err sure, If I can pass out it would be better," she paused and dropped her head, "I can't feel my legs anymore."

Uravis nodded, worry painting his features despite how much he tried to hide it. Before he could turn to give Vasquez orders, he appeared behind Elyria and hit her hard on her neck, causing her to go unconscious.

He carried her in his arms with a frown on his face, "You owe me for this."

"Yeah sure, whatever," Uravis waved Vasquez off and waited till he vanished before he exhaled. "Those two will be the death of me," he rubbed the back of his neck and turned to gaze down at the market.

"I guess it's time," he tapped on his communicator, "Everyone in position."

"Yes sir."

They chorused.

"Good," he mumbled and disconnected.

"Login," he uttered, activating the screen before him, he scrolled to the bottom where the Human bomb was and he inhaled. "Hopefully this doesn't kill me."

'Tempest,' he called the name internally and almost immediately he switched to a red haired, crimson eyed guy, cladded in a black casual fit. At the center of his iris was a multicolored dot that served as his elemental link.

Blue, green, red orange, silver and black.

At that same moment, a bright light wrapped around him, like a cocoon, Uravis but his lips as the pressure built up around him. Causing heat as well but he could endure.

He clenched his fists, his fingers piercing into his skin as the seconds went by, it was getting hotter and hotter to the point steam started leaving his body.

Seconds before disaster, Uravis released his fists, the light faded slowly, letting cool air touch his body. As the question, 'What happened?' settled in Uravis' mind, the light suddenly came back like a flash and expanded, taking up everything and anything into it, like a black hole.

The whole market was covered in the bright light, as well as the fortress but it kept going till about a quarter of the city remained untouched and the other engulfed in the light

When the light stayed for close to a minute, keeping everyone in confusion and curiosity, Tempest's body gave off a massive pulse, like a shock wave, setting everything on fire as it passed.

Screams erupted from below the State house, men and women running helta-skelter, trying to put out the fire that touched them.

However, it was not over, everything that caught fire, sudden disintegrated, turning into ash before the Alliances eyes. The pulse was massive but the effect was horrifying.

Nothing survived, not even building since everything was pulled to the ground in a gray and black powder.

Tempest slowly opened his eyes, glad that he had not been burnt along side the city, he raised his hand to his face and saw that his fingers were peach, instead of the regular pale pink a normal person had.

But was not what caught his attention, at the tip of his finger tips were tiny sparks at soon died down after a few seconds. He heaved a sigh and dusted invisible dirt off him.

He tapped on his communicator and raised his gaze to the sky, "Kill anything that moves."

"Yes sir. But there is a problem."

"What is it?" he dropped his head, moving it to the figure that caught his eyes, 'Torvald?'

"Your sister is.... She's in a critical condition Sir, we afraid she might not make it."

Tempest eyes slowly dilated, his crimson eyes darkening to a wine red shade, "How did that happen?" he demanded, rage slowly coursing through his veins with venom at the tip of his tongue, ready to pass on any death sentence.

"Your sword, Seraphina. She was last spotted with it."

'No,' he tightened his fists, "Where is the Princess?"

"We spotted her with Vasquez on their way back to the camp site."

"Was Seraphina anywhere close to them?"

"Yes sir.."

Tempest didn't wait till the person responding finished what he was saying, he disconnected and clamped his jaws tight, his fingers digging into his flesh as his anger grew more.

'I will murder Seraphina with my bare hands if anything happens to Claire,' he vowed and switched back to Nightshade, his mind off Torvald. He vanished, leaving behind a large mass of black smoke.
