New Handler

I wake up a little late in the morning as I was unable to sleep yesterday with too many questions bombarded on me by my parents and sister as they are worried about me going out alone for hunting, even after explaining them it is just to the area where the newly awakened will go to hunt and there isn't going to be any danger.

I know how much they are worried about me after what I have been through after the awakening and they have the right to be as they know me very well that I will never give-up on a fight until I win or lose conscious due to the battle.

But they had no other option than let me go as they can't stop someone who has awakened to hunt or go into the wilderness for training which is considered a crime throughout Almeya. So, by the end of the two hour long conversation, they agreed to let me go alone to the 'Beginner Area' to hunt some gale rabbits for dinner the next day.

After checking my holowatch for messages and emails that I might have received when I was sleeping, I do my morning chores and take a quick shower before going down for my breakfast and see my parents and sister is yet to go to work and look at me with concern when I get close to the table.

My mother has prepared a delicious breakfast which I gobble it quickly without wasting any time or looking at them who are stunned to see me eating like this for the first time. I immediately leave the house in the bike which I haven't used for a few months and move towards the west defense gate so I can come to know what I will be doing hereafter.

I am not sure if it is excitement or my own predicament to know what is going to happen, I am riding my bike in high speed that I have never even dream of doing. It still makes me feel like I am moving slowly and want to increase the speed, but unfortunately, I am already riding as fast as the bike can go.

I reach the defense gate in eighteen minutes which is a record for me as it always took at least thirty minutes before today. I meet the guard in-charge of doing the paperwork for the awakened who is yet to registered to any guild and inform him about going to the Beginner Area to hunt for gale rabbits to which he agrees as it is not new for them to see newly awakened to go for training so they can get into a good private guilds in the town which I didn't do as my mother wanted me to joining the Hunter's Guild run by the government.

Once I get the document that will allow me to leave and enter the town for one week, I start doing a quick walk towards the gate where I show the document and leave the town in a hurry and start jogging after a few minutes as I feel I am getting late even though when I am not.

I reach the coordinates of the meeting thirty minutes earlier and look around to find anything interesting to pass the time as I don't see or sense anyone else close to me.

But I have a feeling of being watched from the time I entered the Beginner Area which I couldn't ignore. I also tried using my senses that have been now expanded to thirty meters of radius, but unable to find anyone on anything watching me, but I still have this feeling like an intuition.

After trying and failing to find the one watching me for fifteen minutes, I loudly say "Okay, you can stop watching me come out now." And I immediately sense a vibration of power in front of me and a tall man covered in a golden armor from head to toe comes out of a nearby bush. with one look I know this armor is surely of a high grade, even above the grade armor which Jack has. I immediately take a defense stance, with the katana in my hand.

He looks at this and immediately says "Good reflection and senses kid. You are better than I expected." Which is a voice that is muffled or altered by the full golden body armor her is wearing, which is like a voice that has no emotions in it.

I keep looking at him and take a step back for each step towards me trying to maintain the distance as I am still unable to sense him power-level. The burst of the energy left with no trace before I could gauge it which puts me in a conflicted thought of whether to fight him or not.

Looking at me still being cautious, he says "Relax kid, I am your new handler from the Obsidian Shadow." and brings shows me a screen that shows his name, age and his image, all blurred out with a red seal 'Redacted' on top of them. I can only see the logo of the Obsidian Shadow at the center which has two snakes, one in blue and the other in black moving around the logo.

This can never be faked by anyone as it has a very high level power embedded in it and can be easy to find if it was faked or not.

I look at him and ask "In the email, it said my handler will be the one who trained me." Without loosing my defense stance to which he replies "Ahh, yes. your trainer Jack will be handling the other recruits while you will be mine to handle from today."

Hearing that, I lower my katana and look at him as only the people in Obsidian knows Jack was my trainer and my handler till the end of the assessment.

Looking at me he takes a step ahead saying "He has high hopes on you kid, don't disappoint him as he did a favor for you to make me your handler."
