A 'Sword God', Transmigrator and Dark Agent walk into a cafe

My eyes looked to the left and then the right.

Sitting across the table from me was a timid looking boy, his skin was a pasty white that matched well with his marble coloured hair. His bright red eyes seemed to be constantly affixed underneath the table whilst a very vibrant girl beside him hugged one of his arms.

Life seemed to revive across his face as a flush of red spread. It was probably evident from how this chick buried his arm in her extensive cleavage...

Who was she? I knew exactly who. My eyes squinted disapprovingly as I looked anything other than their disgusting affection.

I swished the liquid and ice in my cup before sighing deeply.

How exactly did it come to this, I wonder?

Well it started back when the medical team arrived...

...

"Hi! I'm the medical team Instructor Donny mentioned."

The figure in front of me was the opposite of who'd I thought show up.

Dressed in formal attire, she wore a fitted black suit and similarly formal dress pants. Her short brunette hair was styled very neatly and made for a very presentable face. But regardless of her attempt at professionalism, the fact she looked very young discredited her whole image.

She was the genius child doctor, Watson Holland.

"..." I deadpanned as a little girl waved a hello with such a positive attitude, I almost thought she had come out from a novel... Wait a second.

Anyways, I looked at her face and eventually found her description in the novel. It seemed she was a doctor who utilised the power of emotion to heal wounds and cure sicknesses.

Forget science or even magic, reading the whole book I still don't know how she works.

I'm not one to question how she works, as long as she helps with the pain.

"Are you the fellow that needs my attention?" I didn't need to answer as she knelt before me and pressed a palm to my forehead. Watson closed her eyes to concentrate so in that moment I met eyes with a similarly confused Alicia.

A collective sigh was shared as we awaited the diagnosis. There wasn't a lot of expectation.

"...Hmm, you sir should definitely not ever do what you did anytime soon! Your brain looks like fried chicken!" Her exclaim startled me a little. "Be very glad you survived and I was here to treat you!"

I rose an inquisitive eyebrow which was promptly ignored by the young-looking doctor. Fried chicken?

"As for my treatment plan... a couple doses of smiling maybe?" Her smiley face pushed aggressively into view which I had no help but to retreat from. "...I try hard, y'know."

"Too much I think." A voice aptly added on. Alicia was quick to respond just as heavily hurt by the sight. I didn't blame her.

"...Is that really going to cure me?" Hearing my skepticism, Watson quickly collected herself.

"Well, not exactly. But yes." I knew what she did, but a visibly confused Alicia did not. "Just let me work my magic and you'll see!"

She hurriedly placed some distance between us as she starting drawing up a magic circle. Her arms drew massive spell circles that seemed to tower over her own stature. It was as comical as it was impressive.

From I distance I was able to see the normally aggressive Alicia turn almost meek at the sheer complexity of magic occurring. It was a nice chance of pace.

Of the people who could heal me at the moment, I honestly trusted her the most. Watson was by definition a pure-hearted person who seemed untouched by most of the sinister events of the novel.

Wearing a smile and healing those around her whenever she could, Watson would grow up to become the founder of 'healing potions' and a specialised branch of magic called, 'recovery magic'.

A true master of her craft.

The spell circles soon began to complete themselves as symbols and lines marked the edges of her spell. With a word spoken under her breath, light erupted from her palm taking the shape of butterflies.

Dispersing outwards these creatures of light fluttered towards my head and disappeared as they flew in. A calming and gentle sensation spread through my head as Watson's healing took over.

"Ahh... I think that did the trick!" With a cutesy spin, the little doctor inched towards me and laid a hand over my forehead to double check.

The dizziness and the nausea that assaulted my senses no longer persisted so in a swift motion, I got back to my feet.

Turning to the grinning little girl still dressed weirdly in a suit, I rubbed the back of my neck.

"Thanks doc, I actually feel a lot better now."

"No worries!" Oddly enough the smile on her face seemed to turn genuine. "As for the follow up treatment, drink some coffee!"

All of a sudden my head and Alicia's jolted back with surprise.

"Coffee?" "What's a cup gonna do?"

"Aiya! Alright then, I'll let you in on a little secret." Her little figure prodded forward which caused the both of us to also inch closer. "If you search for the cafe, Little June's, their drinks are made by a retired professional alchemist. The boost from coffee from there can act as a restorative for you."

As an avid reader of the novel I... didn't know that. How much of this world is 'created' so the event of the story could happen? I need to add a history lesson to my check list of the novel's world.

"Thanks doc for the advice, take care." It was probably her childish looks and nature that warranted me to bid her goodbye.

A big smile grew on her face and she waved goodbye. Then, like a run-a-away feral cat, she hastily left to probably attend to some other injured student with a smile on her face. Perhaps it was rude to call her that...

"So coffee..." Thinking to myself, I subconsciously looked to Alicia.

"Eew..." A cold pair of eyes met mine.

"..." I deadpanned at her and sighed. "Do you know where this place might be? I... might need to go there."

Alicia opened her mouth and froze. I could see the various thoughts whizz through her head at... maybe below average speeds?

"I mean, it should be around the downtown district. Past the central area and along the row of restaurants..." My blank met hers and a deduction could be made. "How about you forget all of that and just look at the map there."

Her finger pointed out and my vision followed it to an information sign full of touristic stuff. It even had pamphlets.

Caraine didn't have pamphlets...

I let out a deep sigh at how I memorised a whole city area only for the next to be all on a page. Made me realise I could've just pulled up a map on my phone or something.

"...You were a pretty good opponent, Khael. I look forward to fighting you again."

The smile on Alicia's face indicated she still thought she won the duel. We'll see about that the next time we fight.

"Likewise, Alicia. See you around the academy."

But I'll let her have it. I was too mentally exhausted despite how good of a healer Dr Watson was.

A pleasant farewell to my opponent and a quick trip to the informational sign, I found myself walking to the cafe shop with a map in hand. I was never going to let go of this map.

Reaching the downtown district Alicia mentioned, I followed the rows of restaurants and stopped myself at a cosy looking shop.

The cafe contrasted against the concrete city very nicely with its rustic but clean aesthetic appeal. A sign hung from the outside displaying the words, 'Little June's' in an earthy yellow colour.

As soon as I entered in and lined up to grab a black coffee, a tingle in my skin made me shiver. What was that?

*Ding* *ding*

The door once again opened as two people walked in. Standing there, I turned ever so slowly around. My eyes wide and scarily expectant.

"Yeah, I think so too... Oh! Hey friend, fancy meeting you here."

A pair of red eyes met mine.

A pair of inquisitive but active purple eyes peered from behind his shoulder.

A very normal pair brown eyes stared and questioned why every single person has unique eye colours. Was this another form of injustice? Where was his cool eye colour?
