Chapter 9

The narrator said, "After Megan and Joseph had dinner, Megan went to her room and thought this case through. While she was thinking, so were the vampires." Matt got a call from Carolyn and Angelica. Matt said, "Progress report?" Carolyn said, "It's a balanced deal. On the upside, the villagers are going home for the night; we can strike at midnight and maybe expand our crew if we find any to make our slaves." Matt said, "And the downside?" Angelica took the phone and said, "Well, there's a snag." Matt took a deep breath and guessed what it was. Matt said, "Chief Jade?" Angelica said, "How'd you guess?" Matt said, "No. Not this time. We're going to do this, even if she's expecting us. Oh, and Angelica. I don't mean to throw you out of the party, but I need you to do me a favor." Matt took a framed picture of Megan and Joseph hugging, which he had on his desk, and looked at it.

The narrator said, "The phone rang, and Joseph answered it. Megan then listened in on another line and heard what they were saying." Angelica said, "I'll meet you in the town square in 15 minutes. I have a little surprise for you." Joseph said, "Great. I can't wait." Angelica and Joseph then hung up, and Megan did, too. She then called Kendal and Kayla, and they panicked when Megan told them what she heard on the phone. Kendal said, "You have to stop Joseph." Megan said, "Why?" Kayla said, "She's a 1400-year-old vampire with a surprise for a werewolf. She's going to kill him. And if she doesn't, then your brother will surely eat her. So unless you stop Joseph, either the vampire gets eaten, or the werewolf gets killed."

The narrator said, "Megan put on her jacket and started to follow Joseph." Once Joseph turned the corner to the town square, Angelica saw Joseph looked different than the last time she saw him. The narrator said, "Joseph and Angelica walked together while the sun was still out. While it was getting dark, Megan spied on Joseph and Angelica while Kendal and Kayla were on the phone." Kendal said, "What's happening?" Megan said, "They're talking. Now he's smiling and putting his hand on her cheek. Looks like he's flirting with her." Kayla said, "No, he's luring her. He's waiting for the right time to eat her." Megan said, "Now she's doing the same to him and trying to keep him focused on her." Kendal said, "No. Not her. Her eyes. If he looks her in the eyes, she'll hypnotize him."

The narrator said, "While Megan was spying on Joseph and Angelica to make sure they didn't do anything horrible to each other, the vampires drove to the jewelry store. Once they arrived, Maddy disguised herself as the owner and walked in. Once inside, Maddy went to the security office and called Chris." Maddy said, "Ok, Chris. How do I shut off the alarms and get you guys in?" Chris said, "Push the green button." Maddy pushed the green button and turned off the alarms. Then the vampires snuck in and looked around. They then stole the mayor's golden ring she had brought in to have fitted. The narrator said, "While they were robbing the mayor, Police Chief Jade hurried over. Once Angelica saw them while she was with Joseph, she called Matt, and Matt answered." Angelica said, "Excuse me." Angelica left for a minute and spoke to Matt on the other line. Angelica said, "The werewolf is in the bag. He's not killed yet, but he will be soon. Anyway, unless you have the item, abort. The police are on their way." Matt said, "We have the item. And as usual, no clues are left behind. We'll see you back at the castle after you bullet that werewolf."

The narrator said, "Joseph then gave Angelica a rose, and she smelled it. After doing so, Angelica figured she had Joseph right where she wanted him, so she tried to kill him, but before she got the chance, Megan quickly ran out and stopped her." Megan said, "Wait, don't." The narrator said, "When Joseph looked at where that voice came from, he saw Megan running out to prevent Angelica from killing him." Joseph said, "Megan? What are you doing here?" Angelica said, "And how did you know where to find us?" Megan said, "Um, nothing, and let's just say it was a coincidence." Joseph said, "Wait. Were you spying on us?" Megan laughed and said, "Yeah, right. That would be dishonest and rude." Joseph walked up to Megan and showed her his scary werewolf eyes. Joseph said, "You better hope that's true." The narrator said, "Joseph left, and Megan followed him, leaving Angelica by the fountain with the rose she had gotten from Joseph. Angelica looked at it and felt loved, but then she sat by the fountain and felt depressed." Angelica said, "What's amateur with me? You think a girl would learn after all these years."

Angelica started to sing about how she'd already been loved and wouldn't follow that path again. Then she threw the rose Joseph gave her, and somebody in the church caught it and saw Angelica sitting outside. Then the choir inside the church started to sing with her and tried to tell her that she couldn't deny it because they knew who she was thinking of. Then, the person who caught the rose waved it in Angelica's face. Even though she heard the choir singing to her, Angelica still denied falling for Joseph and then walked away. The choir then wondered why she denied her feelings instead of embracing them. Angelica then walked around town, looking at some love statues while singing. Angelica then skipped across a pond, and when she tripped, she grabbed the hand of a statue of a werewolf and smiled at it while the people around her sang to her, telling her to give it up because they saw her leaning against the werewolf statue like she was in love with it. Then Angelica snapped out of it and continued to deny her feelings while she sang. Then the people around her sang with her and told her to believe them because they said she was in love. Once Angelica returned to the fountain, a kid took the rose Joseph gave Angelica from the choir and put it next to her while the people around her sang about how she didn't have to be proud of it, but it was okay to feel loved. When Angelica leaned back, she touched the rose she got from Joseph, picked it up, and smiled. Then she put the rose by her heart and laid down on the fountain, finishing her song.

The narrator said, "After singing, Matt called her, and she answered her phone." Angelica said, "Yes." Matt said, "Has the werewolf been killed yet." Angelica said, "Well, not yet. I came close, but his mortal sister took him away before I got the chance to kill him." Matt said, "Keep this up, and we'll never get him. You need to get him alone so you can kill him." Angelica put an evil smirk on her face and said, "And I think I know just how to do it."
