Chapter 100. A Mighty Armor

"Oh, this is awesome!" Tony exclaimed, soaring through the sky in his new armor. At this moment, this armor was the most powerful he had ever created.

In terms of speed, the "Destroyer" armor could accelerate up to Mach 4. Although his previous Mark VI suit, upgraded with the new arc reactor, also reached Mach 4, the materials used in it were significantly lighter. Therefore, despite the similar speed, the new suit boasted considerably more power and durability. The armor was forged from a mysterious metal that surpassed almost all known materials on Earth in its protective properties, with the possible exceptions of vibranium and adamantium.

Tony hadn't had a chance to test this armor in combat yet, but he already knew it was vastly different from all his previous creations. Unlike earlier models, the "Destroyer" armor wasn't equipped with missile pods or laser turrets. The reason wasn't that he didn't want to install them, but that the metal from which the armor was made proved so durable that modification required immense effort.

Nevertheless, he was confident in the combat power of his new suit. He already knew that the Destroyer's energy beam was comparable in power to any of his previous weapons. Unlike past models, this laser didn't require the installation of specialized generators, which he had previously used in his suits. He remembered how he once nearly blew up his basement during one such experiment.

He also understood that the armor's potential hadn't been fully unlocked yet. The mysterious runes that appeared on the armor's surface upon activation surely had additional functions. Perhaps, if he could unravel their secrets, he could harness their power.

"Magic? What an unexplored and exciting world," Tony mused.

After Thor's arrival, he realized that the world was much more complex than he had imagined. But even within the scientific realm, he still had much to explore, so he wasn't in a hurry to delve into magic. His recent encounter with the advanced nanotechnology presented by Noah had also captivated him, and he had begun working in that direction.

"Alright, time to test the newbie's power."

After a long flight, he landed in a deserted mountainous region. He remembered flying over this area when he first created the Mark II suit. Back then, he was pursued by two fighter jets, one of which exploded, although it was their own mistake, not his fault.

He was pursued then because his armor lacked stealth capabilities, and military radar detected an unidentified object in their airspace. Naturally, the military scrambled jets to intercept. Later, he equipped his suits with cloaking systems, and such incidents ceased. However, the new armor didn't possess these functions, but he had warned his friend Rhodey in advance. After gifting him one of the suits, his relationship with the government had improved, and the military no longer bothered him.

Boom!

The heavy armor landed on the ground with a thud, kicking up a cloud of dust. It was a desolate, uninhabited mountainous area with almost no trees, only dry grass and yellow earth. The location was ideal for testing the new armor – he could destroy anything he wanted without fear of consequences.

"Okay, let's try the laser weapon's power, Jarvis," Tony said habitually, preparing to activate the weapon systems.

"I apologize, sir, but I cannot control this armor," Jarvis's response stunned Tony.

"What? You can't control this suit? But then who was performing all those maneuvers earlier?" Tony wondered. He usually relied on Jarvis's assistance in controlling the suit, whether it was attacking or flying. All commands were typically executed by the AI. But now it turned out that the AI couldn't control this suit. So, all the actions were performed by the suit itself without AI intervention?

The idea of controlling the suit directly with his thoughts had long occupied Tony. To make this possible, he planned to implement a neural interface technology into the suit that would allow it to read his brainwaves. In "Iron Man 3," Tony had already demonstrated this technology with the Mark 42 suit. The technology allowed him to control the armor and its parts directly through brain impulses, without the need for manipulators.

However, neural interface technology remained a concept at that time, and he hadn't yet implemented it.

"Can this armor read my thoughts? What's that called in the world of magic? The soul?" Tony pondered, bewildered that his armor was capable of something he hadn't anticipated. However, considering the magical nature of this world, he merely raised an eyebrow in surprise. In magic, strange abilities were almost the norm.

"Alright, so be it," he decided, realizing another amazing function of his suit. He raised his hand, focusing his thoughts on the desire to attack.

Orange energy began to gather in the front of his armor. When its concentration reached the size of a basketball, Tony mentally transformed it into a powerful beam, aiming it at a small hill ahead.

Whoosh! Boom!

The orange beam pierced right through the hill, leaving behind a charred hole from which molten lava seeped. The beam didn't stop there and, continuing its trajectory, crashed into a tall rock, causing an explosion of colossal force.

"Holy shit! That's some power! Jarvis, did you see that?" Tony exclaimed in admiration, realizing the destructive power of his shot.

"Indeed, sir. But I must warn you that this attack consumed 20% of the reactor's energy," Jarvis responded.

"Understood. I'll go back and install a few more reactors on this suit, and then I'll work on upgrading them," Tony said thoughtfully. After all, previous versions of his armor couldn't achieve such attack power, even with a similar energy consumption.

He already knew how to solve the energy shortage problem. The easiest way was to add more reactors. He had used this method in the movies, for example, the Hulkbuster armor, which he equipped with thirteen arc reactors. Although he didn't have such armor yet.

"Let's see what happens if I increase the power."

Focusing energy in his hands again, Tony, like a child with a new toy, continued testing the capabilities of the "Destroyer" armor with relish. This time, he released the energy in the form of a circular energy blast.

Kaboom!!!

This time, the hill couldn't withstand it – it was literally vaporized by the heat of the orange blast, leaving behind a giant crater filled with smoke and molten lava.

Clap! Clap!

"Bravo, bravo! Magnificent power, Mr. Stark! Your new suit is truly impressive," applause rang out behind Tony, putting him on alert. Turning around, he saw the one he considered a true genius – Noah.

Noah, clad in his combat suit, approached Iron Man, whose armor so resembled the Destroyer's.
