Academy

*Ding*

William turned on the phone, and as soon as he did, the same logo on the back of the phone appeared on the screen, then a crisp feminine voice rang out.

"Welcome, Cadet William Dave to the Light Of Peace academy."

William's eyes widened as he heard the academy's name.

"No way."

The logo on the screen disappeared, replaced by the typical home screen of any phone, William looked at the apps and then entered the app called 'LOP', seemingly an abbreviation for the academy's name.

The app opened and he looked around for a bit, then entered the 'about us' section and started reading.

"The Light Of Peace academy, it is the biggest academy for aspiring heroes in the Alcaryan continent. The most talented talented individuals from around the continent gather here to improve and reach new heights to be able to fight against the demons that have plagued the world for centuries."

"Holy shit."

That's all a shocked William could mutter.

"This is the academy from the novel I have been reading!"

William was, well he was shocked to say the least. As learning this information made things a lot tougher from him, but in the same time alot simpler.

"Well now I could say I have an advantage in knowing the world's future, but, I can't really perfectly utilize it as sooner all later I will have to involve myself with the main cast, and that will undoubtedly change alot in the plot."

William clicked his tongue, frustrated by the situation he found himself in.

Although William was now away from his original world, he really didn't feel sad, of course he was a little down because he wouldn't see Mr Roberts and his wife for a while, he already knew he was going to return, so it didn't really matter.

Or maybe he wouldn't return at all, and would just die a dog's death here, it was all in the realms of possiblities.

"Well my plan would be.... I would befriend Ethan, the main character. He is a really kind hearted and naïve guy, so I am sure by spending some time with him he would consider me something like a brother.

Befriending him would also bring me a lot of benefits, like staying in the academy no matter how shit I preform as everyone in it—to be completely blunt— dick rides Ethan as he is as they state the greatest talent in the history of humanity, so as soon as they notice that I am good friends with him, they would completely avoid harming me as not to upset him.

And getting closer to him would also help me a lot in my challenge."

William then kept looking around in the app, and he found something very interesting.

The academy starts today at 9, and it was already nearing 7:45 and he hadn't even taken a shower.

With a sigh, William took a quick shower and put the academy uniform on, by the time he was finished, it was already 8:15, 45 minutes until class starts. So, William started to extra hurry himself, and as soon as he got out of the apartment complex, he stopped, remembering something important.

"How the hell am I supposed to get to the academy?"

***

Standing In front of a huge door with A1 written on it was William, who had finally made his way to his class, which unfortunately, or quite fortunately, was the class of the main cast.

It was also the class of the terrifying Mr Oliver, also he was very mysterious, even in the novel there was barely anything known about the guy, but everyone—even the headmaster, was scared of him.

With his heart violently beating in his chest, William knocked on the door and opened it.

As soon as he did, all eyes fell on him, something that made him even more nervous than he already was, he locked eyes with Mr Oliver, and started speaking.

"I am so sor—"

But before he could finish his apology, Mr Oliver intruppted, with a frown on his face

"Name?"

His voice was deep, crisp and commanding. It sent shivers down William's spine.

"What?"

William asked.

"Name?"

Oliver repeated himself, this time, William managed to compose himself a little and respond to his question.

"It is William Dave, Sir."

The professor kept staring at him for a few seconds.

"Can you please tell me why you were late, William?"

Quickly coming up with an excuse, William spoke up.

"Ah, well Sir, I came here in a taxi and the driver asked for too much money so I spent a while arguing with him."

William smirked inwardly, proud of himself for the story he came up with on the spot.

'He will 100% believe that!'

"A taxi you say... Why would you take a taxi when you live in building 32, exactly a 5 minute walk to the academy?"

'Shit.'

William was fucked. Well and truly fucked. He tried to come up with another excuse.

"I was outside the city, in the market, so I had to take a taxi to arrive here."

William decided to use his knowledge from the novel to his benefit.

"But all transportation is free to students, so why would the driver ask for money?"

"Oh."

William involuntary said out loud.

'That was not mentioned in the novel.'

He, thankfully, said that inwardly.

William kept his eyes locked with the professor's for nearly half a minute, until Oliver broke the silence with a chuckle.

"You are very interesting, William. Two points deducted for being late, and giving an awful excuse. Go back to your seat and make sure it doesn't happen again."

William was elated. Yeah, he had a few points deducted, but it really doesn't matter as In the academy rules, being late for the first day was grounds for expulsion!

He thanked Oliver, and now relaxed, managed to take a look at him.

He was a tall man, with a muscular build, freshly trimmed blonde hair. His eyes were deep green and his looks, well they couldn't be put into words. He was extremely handsome, he had sharp and mature features, and his two eyes were like a pair of emeralds.

William started looking around for a seat, and while looking around, he also managed to take a look at two characters from the main cast.

Firstly was Ella Wright, the female lead. He was an beautiful, blue haired, blue eyed girl. Although she was indeed beautiful, William wasn't that astounded by her beauty as on Earth he saw a lot more beautiful ladies.

'Damn, That's the most beautiful girl In the academy?'

He thought inwardly.

Next to her, was her best friend, and another member of the main cast, Luna Kent. She had long purple hair, and was extremely beautiful, more beautiful than Ella in the eyes of William at least. Just like William, the most prominent feature on her face were her eyes, which looked like the moon. They were grey, and had little black spots on them.

While he was looking at Luna, he accidentally locked eyes with her, immediately he averted his gaze.

'Damn, her eyes are no joke.'

He thought inwardly. Luna's eyes weren't just for show, they had multiple insane abilities. One of them, William has just experienced, which was the ability to sense if there was anybody looking at her.

William started making his way towards the back of the class until he found the perfect seat.

It was next to a boy with flaming red hair and deep purple eyes, he was also extremely handsome, of course not as much as Oliver and William, but he was still very much handsome, he had a lean build, and was also tall, probably as tall as William but he couldn't tell as the boy was sitting, that boy was Ethan White. The protagonist of this world.

"Anybody sitting here?"

William asked casually.

"No, you can sit here if you want."

Ethan responded with a smile on his face. As soon as William sat down, Oliver started speaking.

"As I was saying before I got intruppted, my name is Oliver Evans, I am your homeroom teacher, and I am also your Mana science professor. And today, I will begin with just the basics as not to tire you on the first day."

Oliver paused for a few seconds.

"But, before I begin, I have to inform you that on two days from now, we will hold a stat test for all first year cadets, and In three days will be a Battle Royale, both of them combined will be ranking exams, to classify the students according to their strength."

Hearing what Oliver just said, shocked gasps were heard throughout the room. All students were shocked about the revelation, all but two: Ethan, and William.

William wasn't shocked because he had already read the novel so he knew what was going to happen. While Ethan, well Ethan wasn't for a very special reason, one related to his powers.

Ethan's skill was one of a kind, he had the ability to see the future. At the start of the novel, that skill was limited to seeing 10 seconds into the future, but as he gets stronger, the time will increase to unimaginable levels.

Seeing this as an opportunity to start up a conversation with Ethan, William started speaking.

"So, what do you think about this placement exam stuff?"

He asked in a hushed voice.

"Well the academy does this every year."

Ethan replied.

"I know, but I mean why, isn't the entrance exam enough?"

William asked, feigning ignorance.

"It actually isn't, Entrance exams are made to see the competence of the examinees to see who will get accepted, while the ranking exam is more to showcase the fighting prowess of a student to get a better look on how they use their skills."

Ethan answered with enthusiasm.

"That makes alot of sense actually, so, how do you think the battle royale is going to work?"

William asked, seeming satisfied by the enthusiasm of Ethan.

Locking eyes with William and Staying silent for a few seconds, Ethan answered

"Like a battle royale? How the hell do you think they are going to work?"
