CHAPTER 14

Chrisnah's Point of View

I narrow my eyes as I steal glances at Michael. There's something off about him today. Not the usual quirky energy he always has—it’s something else. His whole aura seems brighter, his smile wider. He's practically glowing, and for the life of me, I can't figure out why.

“Why are you staring at me like that, girl? Do I have something on my face?" He breaks into a grin so wide it almost looks painful.

My brow shoots up instinctively. “You seem suspiciously happy today," I say, crossing my arms. "What's going on?"

“Oh, nothing! Can’t a girl just have a fabulous day? Is that such a crime?” He waves his hand dramatically in the air, laughing a little too loudly, his voice almost lilting with a songlike quality. If I didn’t know any better, I’d think he won the lottery or something.
