"Do not get too comfortable with this future Luna shit. I cannot be mated to an omega," I whispered to her while trying so hard to ignore the sparks I felt as I held her arms.

How could I mated to an Omega? First, the black wolf shit? Now I'm mated to an Omega?

Was the Moon Goddess trying to make a joke out of me?

I was currently on the stage with "my mate" as she was announced as the future Luna of my pack. I watched as everyone beamed with smiles as they watched the most powerful alpha and his mate.

"Congratulations, Alpha Lucas. I hope my daughter makes you happy," said Richard, the Crescent pack's Beta.

"She's your daughter?," I asked raising my brow questioningly.

"So why is the daughter of a beta given the rank of an omega or am I missing something?"

"I'm adopted," Rose answered while fiddling with her fingers.

I turned to face as soon as I heard her speak.

"Learn to talk only when spoken to, got it mate?" I said harshly.

She quickly nodded and bowed her head to continue fiddling with her fingers.

"Weak," I said to myself.

"She is the key to fulfilling our destiny. Do not disrespect her" said Boris but I shut him out.

"I asked you a question, Beta Richard,"

"Well Alpha Lucas, like she said, she is adopted. She couldn't be given a major rank because we don't know the rank of her birth parents so we made her an omega to be safe and keep the pack in balance," he said.

"So you reduced her to her baker then?" I asked while eyeing him.

He just smiled awkwardly and continued speaking; "You know how these things are in the pack. We try to hold a balance for our..."

I held my hand up signifying that the conversation was over.

"Go pack your things, we are leaving for my pack," I said to Rose who was still in the same spot as she had been since she came to the stage.

How is this omega going to be a Luna?

She looked up at me looking surprised.

"But Sir…..

"It's Alpha Lucas"

"Alpha Lucas, can't you give me a bit of time to say goodbye to my family?"

I could feel my anger rising as I led her away from the stage to a corner of the room. These damn sparks again.

"Listen to me, Rose. First of all, you are a damn omega and I hardly doubt if anyone would miss you. I am very sure they will be relieved to know that the bratty omega has been taken off their hands and secondly, you do not question my orders else, you will be punished severely. Now, you have 10 minutes to pack your stupid things and follow me back to my pack," I said to her while looking her squarely in the eyes.

They were a deep brown and filled with tears like she was about to cry.

Exactly what I thought, weak.

She dashed out of the hall and made her way outside and for her sake, I hoped she was going to do as I ordered.

"Alpha, congratulations on finding your mate. I am happy that the moon goddess has smiled on you and the wolf community. Now that the mate of the black wolf has arrived, we are sure that there will be an end to the evil uprising lightly," said Alpha Zion as he smiled from ear to ear.

I completely ignored him and went to find Alpha Thomas. We had a lot to discuss concerning the incidents of the past few moons.

I found him among the other Alphas in a heated discussion in the Alphas corner of the hall.

"Ah, Alpha Lucas. Thank the moon you're here" he said.

"We were just discussing the issue we have found ourselves in. Out of the 10 wolf packs, 6 have reported sightings of half-shifted wolves poisoned with wolfsbane. We also heard that the prophecy that has been in our hearts for several generations is about to be fulfilled."

"I will stop you right there Alpha Thomas," I said.

"We need to find who is behind these poisonings and my best guess is rogues. The prophecy you are all talking about is nothing but a fairytale. That I am a black wolf doesn't mean I am anointed by the moon goddess or whatever stories you might have heard from the council" I continued.

"We understand your concerns, Alpha Lucas. But in case you don't know, you are the only black wolf in our community. There hasn't been any black wolf in generations and because wolves are being killed because of the wolfsbane proves that the prophecy is true." said Alpha Carlo, the Alpha of Croce pack.

"Assuming your father were still alive, I'm sure he would have explained this better to you," he continued.

Hearing this statement angered my wolf and he began to fight for control.

I held him by the neck as he tried to pry my hands off him but he was no match for me.

"Do not ever mention that man in my presence," said Boris as he had fully taken over.

"Please let him go"

"You will kill him"

"This isn't right, please"

"He will die Alpha Lucas"

I finally let him go and he began to cough due to the lack of airflow he experienced.

"The next time you mention him, I'll be sure to rip your head from your body and merge your pack with mine," I said.

He nodded quickly in understanding while looking at me in fear as he clutched his throat.

I hated hearing about my father if I could even call him that.

I killed him during the alpha challenge for a reason.

"I am sorry Alpha Lucas but you and your mate are the key to stopping wolves from being wiped out. We need you to start initiating the mating process as soon as possible," said Alpha Thomas.

What?

"Please think about the prophecy," he continued.

"I think that's all for the night. Excuse me Alphas," I said as I left the meeting.

I mindlinked my beta to get the car ready for us to get back to our pack.

Walking out to the field, I ran my fingers through my hair trying to control my thoughts when a sight caught my eye.

My mate was hugging a male wolf just outside the field.

This sight made my blood boil.

"I am going to kill him," said Boris.
