Time flew by. In the early morning, Finn glanced at the sleeping Robin before heading to the top deck of the super battleship.
He opened the system interface and accessed the Heroic Spirit Summoning Pool.
Sure enough, the number of summoning tokens was 1!
"Summon Heroic Spirits!"
Finn shouted silently in his mind.
The Heroic Spirit Summoning Pool suddenly crackled with thunder and lightning, emitting energy ripples.
The next moment, a blinding light flashed!
The surface of the summoning pool began to ripple, like the surface of a real lake, and a figure slowly rose from it.
"Congratulations, Host! You have summoned a five-star hero: Okita Souji (Sword Rank)!"
As the system's announcement echoed, the figure of Okita Souji gradually materialized in front of Finn.
With short blonde hair, a light blue top, black over-the-knee socks, and a delicate face, she looked like an angel descending from the mortal world.
"Master!" she said, her voice polite, as she performed a swordsman's salute to Finn.
Finn observed Okita Souji, impressed by her ethereal form. Despite her lack of shoes, her magical essence kept her untouched by dust or dirt.
His heart skipped a beat. The heroic entity formed from magical power truly felt like a dream.
At the same time, Finn noticed a countdown on the summoning pool interface. It displayed Okita Souji's remaining time.
Currently, there were 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 46 seconds left.
When the countdown ended, Okita Souji would vanish.
"System, if I summon Okita Souji again, will she remember this moment?" Finn asked, suddenly curious.
"Yes, Host," the system replied.
"Oh?" Finn's interest piqued. "That could be quite interesting."
Satisfied with this mechanism, Finn turned his attention back to Okita Souji. "Come, fight with me!"
Since she was a starless hero, Finn wanted to test her strength.
Okita Souji seemed puzzled, tilting her head slightly. "Master, are you sure you want to fight?"
"Yes, let's spar," Finn replied with a nod.
"Oh~" Okita Souji responded, understanding his intent.
In an instant, she drew her blade and slashed at Finn without hesitation.
Whoosh, crash!
Before Finn could react, she made her move.
Was she really this obedient?
Finn's heart raced as he stepped back, activating his sword fairy form. His palm extended, and the energy sword appeared in his hand.
Clang! Clang! Clang!...
The two blades clashed over and over in a rapid exchange.
Though Finn had the top-tier Observation Haki, Okita Souji used her own mind and eye skills, capturing the route of his attacks while enhancing her own evasive maneuvers.
"Not bad," Finn thought to himself, silently assessing Okita Souji's abilities.
From what he had seen, she certainly had the strength to be an Admiral candidate!
"Can you get even stronger?" Finn asked provocatively.
He didn't want her to be this strong—after all, she was a five-star heroic spirit.
At that, Okita Souji's eyes widened slightly. "Master, please be careful next time!"
"Bring it on!" Finn urged.
Finn was now fully engaged, determined to test her limits.
As Okita Souji moved, her footwork became unpredictable. Her speed increased, and her breathing became near undetectable.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!...
Her small hands wielded her sword like shadows, attacking relentlessly.
This time, her strikes were sharper, faster, and far more fluid. Every attack seemed to find a new angle to break through Finn's defense.
For the first time, Finn felt overwhelmed by her onslaught.
"Master, look out!" Okita Souji warned, taking a quick step forward and delivering a devastating slash.
Incredibly fast!
Finn raised his sword just in time to block the blow.
Clang!
Though he managed to block it, Finn secretly praised her in his heart. If it hadn't been for his advanced Observation Haki, he would have struggled to defend against that strike.
"Impressive," Finn muttered, genuinely impressed by her skills.
Okita Souji jumped back, stopping her attacks.
"Master, is that enough? If it's not, I can release my Noble Phantasm's power," she said, holding her blade with both hands.
"No need," Finn replied.
There was no need to test the power of the Noble Phantasm. From what Finn had seen, Okita Souji's swordsmanship alone was more than enough. She could easily hold her own against an Admiral-level fighter.
"Understood, Master," Okita Souji said, returning her sword to its sheath.
Finn approached her and reached out to gently pat her head.
However, Okita Souji instinctively dodged.
Ah, yes—despite being a summoned heroic spirit, she had her own independent personality.
"Master," she said, her voice quiet with a hint of apology.
Finn smiled. "What if I told you not to move?"
"Understood, Master," Okita Souji said, slightly pursing her lips as her delicate lashes fluttered.
"You're quite obedient," Finn remarked, running his hand through her hair.
"As a heroic spirit, I will carry out all of my Master's orders," she replied.
Finn raised an eyebrow. "Have you been summoned by other masters before?"
"No. To be precise, this feels like a dream to me. You are the only one with whom I've formed a bond," Okita Souji explained.
Finn looked to the system for clarification. "System, will the heroic spirit I summon ever be summoned by other masters?"
"You can rest assured, Host. The heroic spirits summoned from the Heroic Spirit Summoning Pool come from a specific parallel space, and you are the only one who can summon them," the system assured him.
"That's a relief," Finn said, feeling more at ease.
"By the way, will the heroic spirit I summon ever break free from the seal and turn on the master?" Finn asked.
"No, Host. There is no curse or seal. As long as you give an order, the heroic spirit will obey unconditionally," the system replied.
With that reassurance, Finn's worries melted away. He turned to Okita Souji and said, "Next, don't oppose anything I do."
Okita Souji hesitated slightly but nodded. "Yes, Master."
Finn then held Okita Souji in his arms.
Surprised, Okita Souji tensed at first but didn't resist.
Finn smiled, looking into her eyes. "Did you know? I summoned you, but you can only exist for 24 hours. After that, you'll temporarily disappear until I summon you again."
"Yes, I know," Okita Souji responded softly, her voice carrying a faint sorrow.
But Finn didn't dwell on that. He knew that once she was gone, he'd have to wait to summon her again.
Unlike the people on the ship, with whom he could slowly build relationships, he wouldn't have that luxury with Okita Souji.
And for that reason, he wasn't going to waste this moment.
He whispered his intentions in her ear.
"Can I... refuse?" Okita Souji asked softly.
"No! This is for strengthening our bond. It'll help us fight better together," Finn insisted, shaking his head firmly.
With no other choice, Okita Souji nodded. As a summoned heroic spirit, she had no say in the matter.
The night was beautiful, and the scenery even more so.
A perfect day.
