Feel No Evil

*10 years ago in a certain orphanage*

Kids are talking, there's shouting and whimpering everywhere

"And.... Checkmate"

"Lucas is so good at chess, I doubt anyone can beat him"

"Oh, Chess... I haven't played that in a while", a lady suddenly appears behind the children.

She looks really young. She's quite tall, wears glasses and has a blonde hair.

"LEADER!!! Can you beat Lucas in chess? He's pretty smart. We can't win. It's almost like he reads our mind."

"Now who gave me this name 'leader'? It's quite a funny name, though."

"It was Sam, he said we should call you leader", a kid replied.

"You can call be by my name kids"

"What's your name?", they yell in unison.

"You may call me Alex", the lady replies.

"Isn't it a boy's name?"

"Oh, no dear, Alex can be a girl's name too"

"Anyways... can you beat Alex in chess?", a kid brings up the topic.

"Well I wouldn't know unless I play with him, but does he wanna play with me?"

"I don't care who plays, just sit down, +1 win to my tally anyways", young Lucas replies.

"If I were you, I wouldn't be so confident, Lucas" Alex replies back.

Lucas and Alex go on about the game for a long time until the kids hear.

"Checkmate"

But this time, it wasn't from Lucas, but from Alex.

"You're disappointing Lucas, I won't lie. I expected much better from you", Alex says.

Lucas says nothing. He remains completely silent.

"You see, Lucas. You were too focused on taking down my king that you never noticed there was a queen attacking you"

Lucas is once again without any word. He just stands up and leaves the place. With a hint of tears in his eyes.

He takes his pet dog and runs off. He runs off to his safe place, a hill side where he always goes to watch the sunset with his pet dog.

"I'm happy you were there for me when I needed you, from when I was really small. I love to watch the sunset with you, Pete"

Pete closes his eyes a little and shows a sense of comfort in him.

It makes Lucas smile.

Right after Lucas returns from the sunset, he notices Alex talking with some strangers inside her office.

He sneaks a peek at the office and eavesdrops.

"We believe you are keeping the son of Detective Edward here. Are the rumors true?", one of them says.

"Where did you hear such shitty rumors? I don't remember any child from any Edward in this orphanage. Orphanages are for children without parents, you shithead", Alex replies.

Lucas was shocked. Just because he was the child of Detective Edward they were talking about.

"Don't lie, Ms. Alex, or else, we will know", one of them adds.

"Yeah right.... Why do you need that child anyways?", Alex replies.

"He's dangerous, that kid, for us"

"Oh, the mighty Genesis getting scared of a measly kid, interesting, I must say"

"We aren't scared of that kid, we're scared of the information the kid has.. about us"

"Well that's interesting.."

"We will remind you again... that if we do find out you're lying, there will be consequences to the whole orphanage, Ms. Alex"

Lucas becomes worried. But unfortunately, he remains silent as he can't do anything or even help Alex in the slightest.

That same night, Lucas wakes up as he hears his dog barking outside in a very unsettling noise.

He went outside to check what was happening there and decided to sneak from a wall.

There stood the men who warned Alex, with a poker face, a knife, and stains of blood on the same knife.

Lucas' beloved dog had been murdered right in front of his eyes.

"That old mutt was so aggressive, so annoying...", one of the guy said.

"Forget about the dog, that bitch, she lied to us in our own face", another one replies.

Suddenly, Alex pops up from Lucas' behind. Lucas gets shocked and Alex covers his mouth and silences him.

"Shhhhh... You're loud....", Alex whispers.

"Alex.. Why is all of this happening? Is it my fault....? Is it my fault that I was born?", Lucas whispers back, but with tears.

"I'm sorry Lucas, I vowed to someone I would protect you throughout your childhood, but seems like I couldn't. I can save your life but I can't save you"

"and unfortunately.... I can't save the lives of your brothers and sisters"

Lucas tries to hold in his tears.

"Look into my eyes, Lucas.... You'll be alright, but you have to go away far from here and move on.."

Suddenly, one of the man senses a sort of movement near him.

"Who's there?..." the man shouts.

"Run, Lucas, I'll try to do something.. Run-" Alex whispers again.

The man tries to approach the scene.

Lucas runs as fast as he can. He blazes through the wind.

He stops as he gets tired from running and looks back. His eyes open wide in Horror.

The Orphanage he used to reside in, the same orphanage, was in flames, burning while he could do nothing.

Lucas blames himself for all that happened and mainly, blames his father for making his life worse.

He gets on his knees, as he again, lost an important part of his life, he feels like he lost his entire childhood right in that glimpse.

Every happy and sad moment he spent, the last hope he had, was burn in flames.
