Back to the present time.
"Wait, How can she be the leader of The Hounds? She couldn't even save your orphanage", Dennis points out.
"That's what she wants us to think...", Lucas replies.
"What do you mean?"
"She's not a good person, Dennis. Definitely not on our side"
"How are you so sure?"
"After I ran away from the orphanage, I looked at Pete one last time, the wound wasn't a stab wound, it was a bullet hole... and at that time, I could sense a pistol in Alex's back"
"Sense? How?..."
"I don't remember much but I think it was how she bent towards me. Her back was bent in such a way that there must have been something behind her, and according to me, it was a pistol"
"You deduced all of it in such a small matter of time? How is that even possible? You were still a kid"
"Learned a lot from my dad. Was a scumbag, but definitely intelligent as shit"
"She's the leader of a detective organization, are you sure she didn't try to trick you?"
"That might have been the case, but she didn't know I had deduction skills, she even thought I was disappointing once, so I'm just guessing for now, she didn't bend like that on purpose"
"Do you think the Genesis and Hounds are together in this? Even if that's the case, what do they wanna accomplish in this small town?"
"Dennis, by any chance, do you know what this town was called before Gatsby?"
"Gatsby had a name before this?", Dennis says in a confusing and shocked tone.
"Yeah , and it struck a sense of fear into everybody when they heard the name, people were scared to enter this town by it's name"
"What? What was it even called?"
"Deadman's Creek..."
"That sure strikes a sense of chill down my spine, I definitely wouldn't wanna enter a town named 'Deadman's Creek', but what was even the reason behind the name?"
"This was during the time this place even had The Hounds or The Genesis. This place was full of murder and people were dying everywhere. It was the land of serial killers and murder, and there, also included the international threat, the man who murdered dozens of people but was yet uncaught, he was named... Deadman. The police couldn't find who he was. Everybody tried to look for him, yet he was uncaught and unidentified, they knew he live in this place so they named it Deadman's Creek..."
Lucas continues to explain.
"But one day... a man came straight up to the police and confessed he was Deadman"
"The police didn't know that it was Deadman so they asked him to prove that he was Deadman and so he did. He showed the detectives the dead bodies he had kept and explained all the ways that he killed them and hid them.."
"He explained all the gruesome and cruel ways he murdered those people and why he killed them... and he later was in custody"
"That's good right?", Dennis replies.
"Not really... after his arrest, Deadman's Creek went wild. The serial killers started killing each other to determine who the leader of the creek now was.. so they made different groups from themselves, and from there, a group named Genesis was formed who was obliterating everyone. Everyone calls Genesis 'The Satan Worshippers' but that's just a conception. They're ruthless serial killers regardless of religion"
"The worst thing was.. the government was with the serial killers so there was no way the creek was gonna get any better"
"How did it get better then?", Dennis looks at Lucas confused.
"Alex. That woman brought Deadman in front of the whole town and told him to stop the war but Deadman agreed at only one condition... Deadman would lead The Genesis and so.. from the remaining serial killers, Alex formed an authorized detective organization by bribing and messing up with the government... and then, The Hounds were formed"
"So The Hound is a criminal organization?..."
"Not a criminal organization but rather an organization made up of criminals.. The Hound and Genesis have been deemed rivals but are rather together in everything.."
"Until one day, Deadman's brother betrayed him. The man Deadman had trusted the most in was an undercover and a legal detective. He shot Deadman's leg for Deadman to not come after him but couldn't actually kill him as Deadman was his beloved brother."
Dennis keeps listening intensely.
"Deadman's brother later joined The Hounds and became a detective himself which causes a massive trust issue between The Hounds and The Genesis until Deadman's brother dragged a dead body to The Hounds, a body that no-one expected. It was the dead body of The Commissioner...
Everybody in the Hound looked in horror at the dead body of The Commissioner. Till then Deadman's brother had disappeared. Nobody knew why he had killed the Commissioner and neither knew where he was. Both The Genesis and The Hounds wanted to catch him and were looking for his head.
But he was nowhere other than inside Deadman's Creek killing people of the law day by day undercover with a family. He had proved himself to be quite a detective. So much so he prevented the name Deadman to go anywhere out of here and also forcing the Mayor of the town to change the name to 'Gatsby' to make people forget the name Deadman forever."
"But who was he?"
"Detective Edward... Norris"
"It was your father?" Dennis falls down to the couch in shock.
