Meanwhile, in a certain building, a middle aged man walks in. As soon as he walks in, he sees two men arguing and on the floor, was wine spilled all over.
"This was all your fault Detective Smith, because you decided to wander off, he's gone now!!", one man shouts.
"Huh? My fault? Why did you not put a caution tape around the area Detective Adams?", the other man replies.
"What's up with you two?", asks the middle aged man.
"Detective Edward Norris, Good Morning to you", both of the men say in unison.
"Detective, do you remember the Roger's Donuts incident?", one man brings up.
"Not quite", Edward replies.
"That one restaurant where kids used to disappear...?", another man adds.
"The one with those robots and stuffs?", Edwards replies confusingly.
"No, the one with the Mustache Man"
"Oh right- Now I remember"
"Yes"
"So what? What about it?"
"The one suspect we had-, the kid, he disappeared because Detective Smith here thought it was a good idea to just leave him alone for a while", Adams said.
"Wh- Where did you even lose him?", Edward stuttered.
"In our car, near the crime scene, the restaurant, detective", Smith replied.
"Any trails leading to anywhere?"
"None- But there was this one thing we had found where the child was sat"
"Everything is useful.. What is it?"
"It was a knife, detective"
"A knife?.. Have you checked for fingerprints?"
"We did.. There's no fingerprints and bloodstains"
"Perhaps gloves were used then.. or a Microfiber cloth"
"Why do you think the killer purposely put a knife there? Was it a hint? A threat perhaps?"
"He's trying to send us a message.."
"What kind of message, detective?"
"We'll have to figure that out- the knife here isn't a battle knife or a pocket knife, but rather a kitchen knife... We might have to investigate the company that manufactured it, or rather restaurants that are importing it"
"But what if it leads to the same donut shop, detective?"
"It won't.. I'm certain it won't"
There's a certain silence in the room for few seconds
"but first things first.. who spilled my wine here? You guys knew it was my favorite wine and you decided to spill it over your argument?"
"sorry detective but we didn't spill it.. it was spilled ever since we came here"
"the wine had been spilled before you both came here and it hasn't been dried up.. means it wasn't long before it was spilled... did you guys come together?"
"Yeah, but detective Smith entered here first"
"Detective Smith, were the windows open or any ventilator open when you came here?"
"No, detective, there weren't any signs of entrance, besides everything was locked from the inside.. so nobody could force themselves inside"
"So it's someone from our organization who's the kidnapper huh"
"Wait a minute detective, sure someone from here spilled the wine, but it doesn't mean it was the same culprit"
"Look at the wine glass"
Detective smith takes a look at the broken glass on the floor
"What's wrong with the glass, detective?", says Smith.
"There's knife marks on it... and the fact that there are no tiny shards of glass, the culprit has probably written a message on there, try to reassemble it"
Both of the detectives reassemble the glass and a number carved on it is revealed.
"it's 114 and probably another number since a certain shard was taken by the culprit.. What could be the number?", asks detective Adams.
"i guess it's nine, but it can just be a wild guess" says detective Williams.
"and what tells you that detective?" asks detective Smith.
"nothing honestly, i just combined knife and wine which gave 'knine/nine' "
"It's not a bad guess, we can try to put 9 there.. but what do the numbers even mean?"
"What's the current time, detective Adams?"
"it's 11:47 AM, wait-"
"only a minute huh... let's see what this culprit has to offer"
"it's time det-"
The light suddenly goes out, detective Adam and Smith both let out a loud groan while there's no sound coming from detective Williams.
Suddenly light comes back in, a shard of glass was stabbed in Smith's neck while the kitchen knife was stabbed at Adam's heart.
Before they died, detective Williams wasn't there but the last face they saw was of the presumed deceased Deadman.
In Lucas' room,
"You mean your father is the brother of Deadman? That Deadman?"
"Yeah, most people believe that, but the story I told you is mixed up with some lies"
"What do you mean... lies?"
"I've been researching about my father's past for years.. but what I found in a note took my soul away... He's not Deadman's brother but rather..."
"but rather what?"
"My father is Deadman himself..."
"WHAT?-"
"Dissociative Identity Disorder, aka Multiple Personality Disorder, Deadman is a personality of my father which he is completely unaware of..."
"How is he so unaware?"
"Anyone aware of the fact would be killed by Deadman.. so there was no-one to tell the tale.. and then Deadman took the original story and filled it with lies... lies that he thought would suit the story and not ruin the legacy of detective Williams"
"Dennis, do you know what Alex said to me over there?"
"What is it?"
"She told me to find and kill Deadman.. she apparently found out that he was alive all along and still committing the same murders and no-one's being suspicious of him"
"She wants you to kill your own father, Lucas? And you took the offer? Why?"
"My father, detective Williams, has been trying to kill him for years, so why not I do it instead?"
"But how will you find him, Lucas? You've been trying to search for him for ages, how are you gonna have the luck about this?"
"Oh, I won't find him, Dennis"
"Then?"
"Remember, my father's a detective... and there's only one way to lure a detective"
"Crime?"
"Exactly, and there's one thing that'll make my father absolutely come here.."
"What is it?"
"My name, Dennis.. and the title 'Detective' before it"
Dennis can't form a word while Lucas' eyes is filled with anger.
"It's finally time to settle the score with the man who ruined mine and my father's life..."
"But Lucas, you haven't killed any human before, you alright with your first victim being your father?"
"You're mistaken Dennis, who I'm about to kill isn't any human but is the incarnation of the devil.. if i kill him, not only me and my father, I can take the revenge of every innocent bloodshed and their families, including my innocent mother"
Dennis once again just looks at Lucas without being able to form a single word.
"I think it's finally time to kill the dead man"
