Shocking Revelation

Back at home, Evelyn was fully focused on the news playing on the television. Logan sat down next to her, curious about what she was watching.

The news was reporting a death case: an elderly man had been found dead in his home. Because the man was a well-known professor at a prestigious university in Riverton, his passing was causing a stir among students and colleagues.

"Babe, do you know how that old man died?"

Evelyn asked, her eyes wide with disbelief as she looked at her phone. She had just pulled some strings to find out the real story, and what she had learned had shocked her.

"What happened? Was it something supernatural?"

Logan asked, pulling Evelyn closer as he glanced over at her phone.

"That old man was paralyzed from the waist down and lived with his son. On the day of the incident, his son wasn't home, and the old man took a knife and ate his own legs! He bled out and died!"

Evelyn shuddered, pressing herself deeper into Logan's arms as goosebumps covered her skin.

"He didn't have any mental health issues?"

Logan asked, stunned by the horrifying story.

"Apparently not. He was a professor and still taught online classes regularly. Mentally, he was fine,"

Evelyn replied after double-checking her phone for details.

"In that case, we can't afford to stay idle. We need to start growing stronger,"

Logan said, meeting Evelyn's eyes seriously.

"The supernatural is everywhere, and this world is getting stranger by the day. The only way to stay safe is to gain power. We need to start hunting down these entities ourselves!"

"Alright, I'm with you,"

Evelyn agreed, nodding in support. However, her face turned red suddenly, and she mumbled,

"But I'm not the one staying idle... You're the one who kept me up all night... over and over..."

"And who was the one saying 'I want more, I want more'?"

Logan laughed heartily.

"Ah! Don't you dare mimic me!"

Evelyn's face turned crimson as she playfully smacked Logan's chest in mock outrage.

Olivia Grant smiled sweetly at the live-stream camera, waving goodbye to her audience. Only after the flashing lights died down did she let out a sigh of relief.

For some reason, her boss, Chloe Wu, hadn't been showing up at the studio for streams lately. Instead, Olivia had been taking over, and her paycheck had even increased, signaling that Chloe might be grooming her for something bigger.

But Olivia wasn't naive—she knew something wasn't right. Not only had Chloe disappeared, but so had the other assistants. Now, it was just Olivia and a newly hired intern coming to the studio every day.

Thanks to Olivia's looks, which were on par with Chloe's, and her more genuine and down-to-earth personality, the live-stream had gained more followers, boosting revenue. Olivia was making more money than ever, which helped her support her family.

Despite her unease, she kept pushing forward. After all, the money was too good to walk away from.

While Olivia's career was on the rise, her love life was just starting to blossom. Zach Cruz, the owner of a popular barbecue joint, had begun courting her, and their relationship was slowly heating up. They went out to dinner and on dates every week.

Still, Olivia wasn't in a rush to make things official. Given the significant gap in their financial backgrounds, she couldn't afford to trust Zach completely. After all, she had heard enough stories about wealthy men toying with women's emotions during her time in college.

"Olivia, I'm heading out now!"

the intern called, waving goodbye. When she had first started, she had mistaken Olivia for the boss, but now she knew they were both interns. Of course, Olivia had since been promoted.

"See you tomorrow!"

Olivia replied with a smile as she packed up her things. Just then, a figure appeared at the studio door, wrapped in heavy clothing despite the hot summer weather.

"Olivia, still here?"

It was none other than Chloe Wu, the boss. Olivia looked up, startled by her appearance.

Chloe, once slender and graceful, had ballooned in size. Her once-beautiful face had been replaced by chubby cheeks, and her oversized outfit seemed to be an attempt to conceal her identity.

What on earth had happened?

Olivia couldn't figure it out. Had Chloe taken some kind of medication that caused her to gain weight so quickly?

"Olivia, you can head home now. I've got some things to take care of. I'll lock up,"

Chloe said curtly before heading into her office.

"Alright, see you later, boss!"

Olivia didn't dare linger and quickly grabbed her bag, heading out.

As she walked down the street, Olivia couldn't stop thinking about how Chloe had changed. How could someone gain so much weight in just a few days?

It didn't make any sense.

Inside the office, Chloe sat at her desk, munching on chocolate while rummaging through the safe for her bank cards.

She couldn't stop eating. After finishing the chocolate, she moved on to wafers—snacks she usually reserved for employees but never touched herself because of the high calorie count.

Now, eating seemed more important than the work she was doing. Every few minutes, she paused her search to stuff food into her mouth, chewing loudly, the sound echoing eerily through the office.

Once the snacks were gone, Chloe mumbled to herself and continued searching the safe.

"I need more money... to buy more meat..."
