Chapter 24

The last chapter ended with Luca flying over to his village, landing in the middle of it. He ran straight away to Lefn and grabbed her hand, then to Aiko and grabbed her hand, too. Then he flew up in the air and en-route to the peak of the mountain.

When they reached the top, Lefn started hitting Luca's chest with her fists, saying in a cute tone, "Don't ever do that again!" of course because she was flustered due to the suddenness of it.

Luca replied, "I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I promise!"

Aiko stared at Luca in surprise and asked him, "Wow, you— you can fly now?"

Luca was indecisive as he said, "Ummm, yes?"

Aiko went on and said, "That's pretty cool!"

Lefn, who was still slightly annoyed said, "What do you want? I thought you were exploring the Dark Continent. What happened?"

Luca explained, "I met someone."

Both Lefn and Aiko asked at the same time, "Who?"

Luca replied, "I met a hero."

Lefn shrieked in response, "A HERO?"

Luca nodded back in confirmation, "That's right."

Aiko then asked, "Was the hero strong?"

Luca answered, "Stronger than me."

Lefn chunterted to herself, Someone stronger than this freak? then said louder, "Are you sure he was a hero?"

Luca replied, "I'm sure. He said that he lost to the Naxon King and is trapped in the Dark Continent. Also, that I might be the chosen hero."

Aiko stuttered, "A—a—a hero?"

Lefn thought to herself, I knew it, and Luca continued, "Yes, and he told me the only way I can find out is to go to the Fortune Teller and ask her what I want to know."

Lefn asked, "The Fortune Teller? I thought that was a legend."

Luca nodded, "It's not a legend. He said the Fortune Teller is on the other side of the world and the journey is long and filled with danger. So he told me to find powerful people to join me, and the first two I thought of were you two."

Aiko said, "But, but I'm not even strong, Luca."

Luca reassured her thus, "You are strong, and with me and Lefn, there's nothing to worry about. I can also use 45% of Psyros's power now."

Her mouth fell open when she heard that Luca could use 45% of Psyros' power from Lefn. "That's right, we can protect you. But if we're gonna do this, I assume we need more people."

Luca nodded in agreement. "We do, at least 4 more, and we need a boat."

Aiko sounded apprehensive. "Finding people is hard as it is. Where are we gonna find a boat?"

Lefn contributed, "There are some abandoned boats outside of the city, but I hear they're destroyed."

Luca said, "That's perfect. I just need to see it, and I'll make it out of sound."

Lefn said, "That's smart, Luca."

Luca said, "I know."

Aiko asked, "Where are we gonna find 4 more people?"

Luca said, "I have an idea."

The next day, Luca entered the village with 4 new people. They were new in the village. Aiko and Lefn greeted Luca and were about to say hi to the 4 new people, when they recognized them. It was Leon's squad.

Lefn said, "This was your idea?"

Luca replied, "Yes, they are used to traveling, so I figured we are the manpower— me and you— and they are the brains."

Aiko said, "That's perfect. We actually have a decent team."

Luca said, "Okay, so when the night hits, we move. But before we do, I'm gonna ask every one of you again, are you sure you want to do this?"

Leon and his squad threw their fists to their hearts and said aloud, "WE ARE SURE!"

Luca then asked Aiko and Lefn, "Are you sure?"

Aiko, with her determined face, said, "I'm sure."

Lefn fumbled, her mind filled with thoughts of how weak she felt against Luca, but said confidently, "I'm sure."

Luca concluded, "Good. And I'm sure I'm gonna protect every single one of you, even if it costs me my life."
