Lilith pulled Gray into a quiet corner, wrapping her arms around him in a comforting hug. She gently patted his back as he leaned his head against her shoulder, taking a deep, steadying breath. His body was tense, and his eyes, she noticed, grew darker with every passing second.
He hated it. Hated when someone dared to mess with her.
As if silently making a vow, his arms tightened around her, pulling her closer. Lilith's sharp gaze softened, and she reached up, her fingers threading through his silky, smooth hair. She rubbed his head gently, her touch soothing his storm.
Out of nowhere, she felt the warmth of his lips on her neck, a quiet kiss that sent shivers down her spine.
"We're at a hospital, Human doll!" she said, rolling her eyes but smiling despite herself.
Gray's long lashes fluttered against her cheek as he muttered something under his breath, his tone grumpy and low.
