Faisa was turned down. Her heart was broken, and she felt used. She couldn't believe he picked her best friend to be Luna.
She didn't want him to know they were friends. She has never been made fun of like this before in her whole life.
He was a year older than her, so how could he say she wasn't pretty? Everything made sense. The worst thing about her was how shy and quiet she was. It made her not care about how she looked.
She never left the house, so how could she know what men like and dislike about women? She felt bad about going to the mating ceremony. It was all a bad plan.
She started to walk away because her heart was broken. Her eyes showed how much pain she was in. She fell down.
She didn't even expect everything to happen so fast.
A voice said, "Stop right there!" She turned around and stopped.
Aiden was there. He looked smart with that look on his face.
"Do you think you can just leave against your will because you were turned down?" he asked in a hoarse voice.
Faisa's eyes were filled with tears as she listened to him talk. She was so sad she couldn't say a word.
She wished right then that a storm would blow her off the ground so she wouldn't have to deal with someone as cruel as him.
"Those tears of yours can't move me. You see, I made the right choice, and you dare not leave until I tell you so!" he said loudly.
He turned around and called out, "Silas!"
Silas stood there and looked at him the whole time. From when Aiden told everyone that Raina was his Luna to when he called him.
It shocked him because he had never heard of something like that happening. He quickly walked over to where Aiden was standing. He made a small bow. He told them, "Take her from here and get rid of her. And I never want to set my eyes on her," he said.
"Do what I say if you want to serve me," he told them.
Silas had a bow. He had to follow what was told of him. He only does what the Alpha tells him to do because he is the Beta.
He walked up to Faisa, face straight, and grabbed her arms. He walked ahead of her while pulling her behind him.
Faisa turned to look at Raina, her best friend. Raina was speechless as she watched. She has never had something so crazy happen to her.
Even though she couldn't cry any longer, her heart hurt.
Aiden caught her eye. He looked cold, and he was happy that she was fired. For Raina, he put his arm around her shoulders.
That was the last thing she saw. The trees and leaves blocked her view.
As soon as they got into the trees, Silas let go of Faisa's hands. He was sure she wouldn't try to get away or do anything.
Faisa went on her knees and fell like a man with no limbs. The events of the last day had still shocked her. She couldn't stop the tears from running down her face.
The birds and bugs in the woods seemed to want her to talk about how she felt, because the air became quiet. She sobbed like a child.
In the woods, her voice could be heard. Silas stood there helpless.
He could see that she was hurting. He didn't know how to make her feel better. He went over to where she was kneeling and tapped her on the shoulder.
He was trying to make her feel better. "Get your hands off me!" Faisa screamed. She put her hand on his.
"Why don't you kill me like you were told?" She yelled,
"Go ahead!" She looked like she was going to lose it at that moment. He knew he had to calm her down and get his act together in front of her.
He then spoke up. "Do you think I really want to kill you?" he asked Faisa out loud.
Faisa looked back with red eyes. There's no way I could mean to kill you.
He added, "I only do what I'm told."
"Yes! Because you only do what you're told, you should kill me as you were told," Faisa snapped.
"This will be different for you. "I would never do something like that," he said.
Faisa sat down with her legs crossed. Stopping the fight would not help. She should just go along with what he says.
There was no more energy in her to keep talking because she was already worn out. He sat down next to her in the woods.
For a long time, there was quiet before Silas spoke up.
He said, "I'm sorry about what happened."
Faisa turned her head away.
"Sorry for what? It's not like saying sorry can fix what was done," she responded.
She played around with her nails. She looked sad, as her face turned pale.
Simon sighed. He would be in danger with Simon if people found out that he let Faisa live. He could not bring himself to kill a girl who was not guilty.
There was only one thing she wanted: a mate. The moon goddess gave her one, but he made fun of her and turned her down.
He needs to avoid becoming the Alpha's enemy and losing her. It wouldn't help him if he did that. He thought to himself.
Silas said, "You need to stay hidden."
Faisa looked at him. She asked in a weak voice, "What do you mean?"
"I mean, I'm not going to kill you like I was told." He then said, "But then you have to stay hidden until we come up with another plan."
Faisa put her head down.
"Right now you have no choice. Aiden wasn't going to give up so quickly. He could still look to see for sure if I killed you."
He spoke softly. He also said, "He's that kind of person."
"I get it. Okay," she said with a nod.
She was too upset to speak.
Silas said, "I have to leave now."
He explained, "I need to leave quickly so Aiden doesn't think anything is wrong."
Faisa got up.
She said, "Please do me a favor."
Silas told her to keep going by nodding.
"Can you help me talk to my friend Raina to talk to the Alpha about me returning to the pack?" she asked him.
He looked around because he didn't know what to say in response.
Something would go wrong if Aiden found out she was still alive.
"I would really appreciate it," she begged.
"All right. I'll take care of it," Silas replied.
He looked at her for a while, then tapped her on the shoulder and left. He only had to do what she asked so she wouldn't scold him.
At the front of the pack, he arrived. He walked in with a strong resolve after giving it some thought. He went in the direction of the Alpha's rooms.
It was still dark outside because it was so early in the morning.
A woman's voice asked, "You told me it would be easy, so why is my heart racing?"
Silas stopped just before he turned the doorknob. He paid close attention.
Aiden made it clear, "I already sent someone to take care of it."
"Someone, right? Silas? What makes you so sure that he will carry it out?" As if angry, Raina asked.
Aiden grabbed her waist. "Do you believe I'm not smart? What?"
Aiden kissed her and said, "I always have a back-up."
"Don't worry about your friend. I already sent someone to kill her if Silas doesn't do it," he said with a sly smile.
"That is the best way to do it. At least she'd know where she was," Raina laughed.
Aiden took a whiff of her neck. He touched her all the way around the waist.
"At least, I will not have to fight with anyone," she said.
He answered, "Hmm," and took her lips in his.
Silas was shaken. He was shocked by what he heard.
Was Raina the cause of her friend's trouble? He thought back to hearing Aiden say something about sending someone to watch him.
He quickly turned around and ran as fast as he could to where he had left Faisa.
