On the desolate land, a group of barely clothed people were busy at work. They were mining rocks, crafting tools, and planning around the few fertile patches amidst the wasteland.
Groups of dozens scattered in all directions, beginning their exploration of the surrounding areas.
At the edge of the fertile soil, over a hundred people sat in a circle, engaged in a heated debate. Eventually, they elected seven people—five men and two women—and then collectively chose a middle-aged man with an imposing face to be their leader.
Once the election was settled, these individuals organized the idle masses into new groups, each with their own tasks. Hundreds of young men and women knelt before a temporarily constructed stone platform, starting to pray for rain.
Others used stone shovels to dig into the ground, creating large pits connected by dug-out channels. It seemed they were preparing for water storage should the rain come.
