Chapter 99

Mike entered the room, his expression as tired as Kiara felt. He sat down beside her, glancing at the array of screens that David had set up on the table. "Any word?" he asked quietly, his voice low.

David shook his head without looking up from his laptop. "Nothing yet. We're monitoring Ruddy's movements, but he's keeping a low profile. My contacts in the city say he's been holed up somewhere with his men. He knows we're onto him."

"That makes him even more dangerous," Mike muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. "He's unpredictable now."

Kiara's thoughts whirled as she tried to think of their next move. They couldn't stay hidden forever. Waiting for Ruddy to make his move wasn't an option. He was like a cornered animal, desperate and vicious. If they waited too long, he'd lash out in ways they couldn't anticipate.
