The Portal

Ethan who has already mastered the ability to fly, to him it felt so nice to be a god but he didn't know that there were many sacrifices attached to it.

He soared through the sky, his wings beating with powerful strokes against the cold, crisp air. His wings, an expanse of shimmering feathers that glowed with an ethereal light, spanned wide enough to cut through the horizon. Each beat was like a drum, reverberating through the atmosphere as he flew with a sense of purpose and urgency.

The world below blurred as he approached his house, its silhouette stark against the encroaching day. He landed softly in the backyard, his wings folding gracefully behind him. Ethan's heart raced, not just from the flight, but from the impending confrontation.

He moved quickly through the forest. He was searching for the doorway, a portal between worlds that would lead him to the other realm. He could feel the darkness lurking within these trees.

The forest was eerily silent, and Ethan's heightened senses picked up the faintest sounds the shuffle of feet, a whisper of movement. He followed the sensation until he reached the place where he saw a giant stone with a shining door, at last, he found the doorway.

Suddenly, the air grew heavy, and a growl resonated through the trees. A hulking figure emerged from the with glowing red eyes and jagged, as a wolf. Its skin was black it was a howler. The same type of demon that had taken his mother's life.

Ethan's wings flared out with his eyes fiery, and with a fierce cry, he lunged at the creature. His wings, with feathers that shimmered like molten silver, became an extension of his resolve. He slashed with precision, The demon roared, its claws swiping at him with feral rage. Ethan twisted and darted, his wings guiding his every manoeuvre, until he found an opening and swiftly used a long and sharp wood.

With a swift and powerful strike, he pierced the demon's heart. The creature let out a final, guttural scream before disintegrating into a smoky essence. Ethan wiped the sweat from his brow, his wings twitching with the aftershock of the battle.

With the demon vanquished, Ethan turned his attention to the doorway. It stood there, faintly illuminated by the residual glow from his wings. He approached it, only to find that the key was missing. The ornate lock, carved with ancient symbols, remained stubbornly closed.

Frustrated yet determined, Ethan knew he had to go back home. He spread his wings and soared once more, his upward momentum slicing through the air. The journey home passed in a blur of sky and glistening sunlight.

Once home, Ethan landed softly in his room. He sat on the edge of his bed, his wings draped over him like a magnificent cloak. The feathers, still aglow with the light of his recent battle, seemed almost alive as they rustled gently. He tried to calm his racing thoughts, contemplating the missing key and the next steps he would need to take.

John, his friend, had been visiting and was in the room when Ethan landed. He stared in shock at Ethan's wings, his mouth agape. "Ethan, is that you? What in the?" John's eyes darted from the feathers to Ethan's face, a mix of awe and disbelief etched across his features.

Ethan, taking a deep breath, finally spoke, "John, there's something I need to tell you. I'm not just any person. I'm… a god."

John blinked, then broke into a grin. "A god, huh? Well, if you're a god, does that mean you can fly me up to heaven? I've always wanted to see if the clouds are really made of cotton candy."

Ethan chuckled despite the gravity of the situation. "It's not quite like that, but yes, I've got wings. Just not the kind that come with a heavenly vacation package."

John laughed, shaking his head. "Man, I knew you were special, but this is on a whole new level. Just don't tell me you're planning on starting a divine karaoke night or something."

Ethan smiled, the tension easing as he looked at his friend. "No karaoke, I promise. But I could use your help in figuring out where to find that missing key."

John nodded, still grinning. "Well, if there's a missing key, you know I'm your man. Let's crack this case together, god or not."

As Ethan and John began brainstorming, For the first time in a long while, Ethan felt a glimmer of hope.
