Ch. 43 - Truth

I carefully lay Millie back down while Moira busied around with something. I wiped the blood away from Millie's nose with my sleeve.

"Here, help me put this on her."

I looked up to find Moira holding a cable with a clip on the end. "What's that?" I asked with reservation.

"Just some monitors. The machine needs them to assess the situation."

I didn't have time to second guess her, so I took the cable from her and helped get them connected to Millie. The moment we finished, the holographic screen still floating above warped and changed to displaying a stream of data. Most of it I couldn't understand but I could tell that the shifting number on the bottom left was Millie's heart rate.

"I thought you said this would happen in half an hour," I said.
