Chapter Eighty-Three: An Unexpected Journey

With great effort and some mental coaching from Kai, I managed to get at least some of myself out of Aron's body and into the electrical system. It was such a relief when I made connection with my dormanted segments that I nearly cried even if it meant going back to work being the internet.

"Alright now?" asked Kai.

I nodded. "All good." I let myself flop down on top of Kai's sleeping bag and just breathed. Then I sat up again. "Wait, I still can't get out."

"Give it time," said Kai. The kettle he was babysitting on the fire came to a boil and he lifted it off and made us both a cup of coffee.

He held one out to me. I sat up and took it. "Thanks." I took a sip. "If I still can't figure it out by the time we get to Sparrow Island, then you'll have try to remove me forcefully, alright?"

Kai didn't immediately reply.

"Kai?"

"Does it feel bad to have a human body again?"
