"So, to summarise, you think you time travelled."
"More or less."
Kai sat back and folded his arms as he stared up at the setting sun. We were sitting on the roof of one of the crudely built houses on the northern side of the island where, long ago, Aron and I had been infirmed. "I suppose there isn't any reason why it couldn't happen."
This time it was my turn to be surprised. "Really?"
"Well, I'm not an expert in quantum or metaphysics or anything close to this area, but given the nature of digital beings and how radically different they are compared to our own technology," Kai shrugged, "why not?"
Oh Kai, forever the pragmatist. I picked at the last of the spicy egg rice in my bowl then set it aside. It turned out cooking was a good way to work up my hand-eye coordination so that's what I'd been spending most of my time doing since coming to the island.
"But if you really did time travel… then that would mean that you changed Aron's fate."
