004

Rod approached the smallest of the three doors—the bronze one.

For a door that small, the only way for him to enter would be to crawl in like a dog, but since when did a proud lion stoop enough to crawl?

Raising his right hand, a fiery red flame ignited at his fingertips, forming a massive fireball.

"Sunfire!"

With a casual flick, Rod sent the fireball toward the door.

The thick, solid wall melted instantly, revealing a passageway behind it.

Beyond the door was an enormous treasure vault.

Under the glow of the flames, mountains of copper coins and exquisite bronze artifacts filled the vault.

At the entrance, a black dog about the size of a child lay sleeping. Startled by the light, the dog opened its eyes, glaring menacingly at Rod.

With a furious growl, it bared its fangs and lunged toward him.

"Boom!"

Rod lazily tossed another ball of sunfire, sending the black dog flying.

"What the hell? This thing's got some serious life in it!" he muttered, surprised that the dog, though engulfed in flames, hadn't died instantly.

His fire was powered by the sun itself. Even steel would melt under its heat.

But the black dog was seriously injured and couldn't get up for the moment.

"This must be the beast that old woman mentioned," Rod noted, glancing at the blanket in his hand. Without hesitation, he set it on fire.

"Useless junk," he scoffed. It was clear the blanket wouldn't be needed.

Rod wandered through the treasure vault but found no trace of the flintstone.

Leaving the bronze vault, he moved toward the next door.

Another ball of fire easily melted through the silver door, and a gaping maw lunged toward him.

The guardian of the silver vault was a white hunting dog, about the size of a tiger.

Rod snapped his fingers, and the searing flames instantly consumed the white dog.

Badly injured, the dog collapsed to the ground. Rod strolled around the silver vault, finding only piles of silver coins and ornate silverware.

There was no flintstone here either.

"Only one door left."

The sun was nearing its peak, and Rod could feel the boundless solar power surging through his body.

The immense strength made him feel arrogant.

He wouldn't say he looked down on everything, but under the gods, he was unstoppable.

A burst of flame melted through the golden door.

The dazzling golden glow nearly blinded Rod.

Piles of gold and gemstone-encrusted treasures filled the room.

Guarding the vault was a massive golden dog, even larger than an elephant. Its eyes were as big as wagon wheels.

The giant dog opened its mouth, spewing scorching flames.

"You think the light of a firefly can compete with the sun?"

Rod raised his hand, and a brilliant flame gathered at his fingertip.

Boom!

The blazing fire surged forward, obliterating the golden dog's flames with ease.

With a single punch, Rod sent the giant dog flying into the air, the flames in its mouth exploding inside its own jaws.

"Even the Buddha's mercy has its limits!" Rod muttered, eyes half-lidded as he pressed down on the struggling dog with one hand. The immense force shattered the stone floor beneath them.

Though still struggling, the dog was no match for Rod.

Lifting the enormous creature with one hand, Rod swung it around like a wrecking ball, flinging it into the mountain of gold.

Two black flintstones clattered to the ground.

"Is this what that old hag was after?" Rod picked up the flintstones, his expression curious.

What could these be for?
