007.1

Rod was momentarily taken aback. A forest that never had wolves, and now there was suddenly a whole pack? Even migration couldn't explain this.

"Awooooo!"

A deep howl echoed from the depths of the forest. In an instant, the previously restless wolf pack seemed to receive an order. Their mouths opened wide, baring sharp fangs, and they charged viciously!

"Prepare to fight!" the merchant leader shouted, his expression grave as he quickly set fire to the surrounding oil lamps. The rising flames formed a wall of fire that stood between the wolves and the caravan.

Only a few stray gray wolves were agile enough to skirt around the fire and dive into the crowd. However, separated from the rest of the pack, their impact was significantly reduced.

One of the wolves pounced toward the caravan's guards. The guard's expression remained relaxed, even somewhat indifferent. After all, they were well-trained and far stronger than ordinary people, armed with weapons that gave them an advantage. Dealing with a few wild animals shouldn't be an issue.

But in the next second, the guard's face twisted in horror.

The force behind the charging wolf was far greater than it should have been. The sword struck the wolf, but instead of faltering, the beast's eyes flared blood-red, its savage nature fully unleashed.

Snap!

With a single bite, the wolf tore a chunk of flesh from the guard. In an instant, the front line of guards suffered heavy losses. Some were even killed outright, their bodies left in the wolves' jaws.

Just as the wolves were about to break through into the heart of the caravan, a brilliant arc of light cut through the air.

Several wolves were instantly sliced clean in half.

"Looks like I'll have to step in after all," Rod muttered to himself.

The first rays of dawn began to tear through the veil of night. As the golden sunlight bathed the landscape, it also shone upon Rod's body. His muscles, now swollen and tense, seemed to pulse with unrestrained power as he held the heavy divine axe with one hand.

Standing there, his figure radiated a divine presence, towering over all like a god looking down upon mere ants. His gaze was filled with haughty indifference, as if he was surveying something beneath his notice.

"To come all this way just to die... I must admit, your courage is admirable. As a reward for your bravery, I'll show you a glimpse of real power."

Slowly, Rod raised the brilliant golden axe over his head. The solar energy stored within the axe began to pour out, surrounding him with the radiant glow of the sun.

In one swift motion, he swung the divine axe forward.

Dust Slash!

The sound of the swing was deafening, like a crack of thunder that shook the earth. The sheer force of the strike created shockwaves, whipping up a violent wind that swept through the area. The members of the caravan could barely keep their footing, some squinting against the blinding light, others unable to open their eyes at all.

When the wind finally died down, the merchant leader stood frozen, his eyes wide with disbelief. His entire body trembled slightly, and deep in his gaze, there was an indescribable terror.

"How could a human possess such power...?"
