Alex sat in his room, his mind racing with thoughts of Sophia and Valerie. He couldn't believe what had just happened. Valerie's behavior had been strange, to say the least, and Alex couldn't shake off the feeling that she was hiding something.
As he thought about it, an idea struck him. He suspected that the reason Valerie was so concerned about Sophia's whereabouts was because she knew that Sophia had been kidnapped. And the only way Valerie would have known that was if she had witnessed it.
Alex's eyes widened in surprise. It all made sense now. Valerie must have been the one to take Sophia out of the mansion that day, and then the kidnappers came and took Sophia.
He felt a surge of anger and betrayal. How could Valerie do this to him? He thought he knew her, but now he realized that he had been blind to her true nature.
But one question raced through his mind. Why would Valerie do such a heartless thing?
