Chapter 25

"My mum?" was he joking? She thought he was joking, but there was no joke in his eyes. He saw seriousness and something very far from play or joke. She did not know how it would be of help for him to lie. She was there, staring back at him.

"I am serious. Believe me," he said again, moving closer to her.

"What do you mean? Please explain." She was tired of asking people to explain things she didn't know about. There were a lot of reasons she did not want to hear anything from him regarding her mother, but she wanted to listen to what he had to say.

"You remember Evelyn, right?" How could she not remember her? She was someone who was her nightmare in her sleep and while she was awake.

"Of course, Lucas' mother, right?" She also wanted to be sure about it.

"Yes. I'm sorry to break this to you, but she sent me to him."
